I haven't read any of the 3 so I'm down for anything.

Depends on the book. I think most book clubs have weekly assignments.
I know for my students I can assign chapters or just parts of the book, for example, I tell the kids to read the first half from Of Mice and Men over the course of a week (it's ~100 pages long), but that's sophomores in HS, hopefully you can all read faster than that.

:\
That means I have to actually buy the damn book from a shop and not order it online. I'm not made of money!

I am sure one day Australia will learn of these things called libraries.

I don't like to go in libraries here. Too many old people and unemployed weirdos watching porn on the computers.

Not necessarily true. I see it going as once we figure out the first one, we'll know future ones with plenty of time to spare. So you can order online.

That's a good point. Books are expensive in Aus so I usually order them from the UK where they are usually at least 50% cheaper.

It's cheaper to have them shipped from the UK than it would be to buy them locally?
Anyway, I definitely vote for Old Man and the Sea, but I could live with Ender's Game.

Surprisingly yes. Some things in Australia (everything) are expensive.

Ender's Game - 5
American Psycho - 1
I'd say let's give it until Friday for people to vote. Then you can go out and buy your book on the weekend, assuming you're a workin' man such as myself.

American Psycho would definitely be easiest for me to obtain, and I do think Old Man and the Sea would have been a nice start due to it's simple length. I often gravitate to scifi, anyway, so Ender's Game is fine with me.

I love Ender's Game. I've read it at least a dozen times and I'm still excited to read it again.

I was never into Orson Scott Card, I think I'll sit this one out. But next time, I'll procure the lemon squares, I promise!

So, would it be a safe bet to order my Ender's Game copy from amazon now?

Card is a solid writer but nothing to write home about. I wasn't overly impressed with a lot of his other stuff, but it's an easy read and it's a good book. You should totes participate!

The whole point of book clubs is not just to read things you actively like, but to try new things or give something you might not like another chance!

I would second Caddy's (and also 2nd vidae's desire for you to participate) statement here. I know a lot of us have busy schedules, so it's hard to put time, effort and energy into something that we aren't really (on the surface at least) interested in, but hopefully this book club will broaden all of our literary horizons at some point.
