Canadian author, really popular up here. Haven't read the book yet, but I heard it read a whole lot like a Coen Brothers movie.

I finished the first 8 chapters. So, if anyone wishes to discuss...

I find the transitioning from narrator to conscious thoughts of the character to be both interesting and annoying. It's certainly an interesting style, but right now, I am just having a hard time buying into Peter and Valentine being ridiculously intelligent at that age. I know that's the point, but... really? That said, I do love the subtle but slowly increasing social criticism. Oh and I would freaking love to play that game he keeps going to on his desk.

The Mind game? It seems kind of ****** up to me, but I guess it depends on who is playing it since it can be anything YOU want. Ender just wins, so he doesn't think of things in good or bad, but winning and losing.

Ahh I want in on this! I've never been much of a reader but have been trying to get into it. Ill grab a copy of Enders Game and try to catch up.

What did you think? It was the first book I read on my own that I actually enjoyed reading. I was in 7th grade. Once I read that I started to read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on. I liked reading before it, but I didn't love reading until after I finished that book.

The ending with the buggers trying to reach out to Ender to show they are not all that bad was great. But, I thought it was a bit rushed at the end.

Oops, forgot to post my thoughts from the other day.

]Anyways, the book is written a bit simply. Not necessarily a criticism, but at the same time obviously not a strong point of the book, at least not for me. As I am only through chapter eight, it is too early for me to comment that much, other than Ender must literally be the smartest six year old on the planet, because I did not think like that at all when I was that young.

This needs to be resurrected. I'm working my way through the book. It's fantastic.

I first picked it up with the expectation that it would provide social commentary similar to Brave New World, but as I got into the book, I began to hope it was just a great sci-fi book. Of course as the book progresses, it adds social commentary. I am interested to see where it goes after chapter 8.

i'm about halfway through ender's game. it's a great read and i'm loving the sci-fi and ender kicking ass. but ender and valentine's relationship seems way too unnaturally close.

Valentine is the only person in the world that truly loves Ender unconditionally. Peter is evil and his parents view him as something shameful. Valentine loves him no matter what he is or what he does.
