I don't get every Rams game, but when I do watch them he seems to have an outstanding performance. Definitely a great player and the backbone/glue/leader on the Rams defense. You haters make me laugh! He's way better than Hawk, which is interesting because Hawk was certainly better at OSU.

What you watching? Lurinaitis is a good starting MLB. Nothing nore nothing less. He doesn't deserve the cash he's getting.

He's also the 4th best backer in his own division. But...I know truth doesn't beat homerism.

Or anyone for that matter. You say Laurinaitis isn't good, is overrated, is the 4th best LB in the division. Well alrighty, is that your college view of him or have you actually seen him in more than one game in a St. Louis Rams uniform?

Not to mention the horrible teams he's played on in the past. You take him and put him on San Fran and I don't think there is anyone disagreeing with my statement.

Both Willis and Bowman were All Pros last season. Bowman made the list while being a player that no one knew about before the season started in his first year starting at ILB.

I really like Laurinaitis, but the top two ILB's in that division play for the same team. I'd personally have him 3rd, but he isn't even close to the top two guys.

It's kind of tough to make an argument for Laurinaitis over Bowman/Willis.

It's even harder to say that things would be different if he played for the 49'ers as Laurinaitis would get his lunch ate if he played in a 3-4. This is another reason why it is hard to compare him to the other ILB in the division.

End of the day, Laurinaitis is a little above average in terms of ILB. Never going to by a big hitter, never going to be a big time penetrator; but he is smart, instinctive and a leader on that defense.

that's a misleading statement though.....Willis and Bowman are two of the best in the entire league. JL is a pro bowl quality middle linebacker in his own right even if he isn't like those guys.

This, absolutely. Bad team + pilejumper preconception + underrepresented fanbase isn't going to help him, but he is darn good. No reason to detract from him because other good players exist within the division.

I think a lot of the pilejumper crap started with some of the OSU haters in here from some time back.

Let's be serious, the Rams aren't going to throw a ton of money at a guy that isnt at or near the top of his profession.

I think Laurinaitis is good though, from what I've seen of him. I think the pilejumper comments are from people that watched him in college, got an opinion, and stopped paying attention.

I also think it is a little silly to compare a 4-3 MLB to a 3-4 ILB the way it's being done in this thread.

the pilejumper crap is from Sniper back when JL was at tOSU because he got a lot of assisted tackles on the Ohio State stat sheet (which OSU was notorious for awarding 3 or 4 assisted tackles on a single play a lot).

Kinda unfair to say though as you're listing him above an All-Pro linebacker. This after you listed Bradford ahead of multiple quarterbacks he has no place being.
