How does Locker have more potential than Luck or RGIII?? I know you asked the question moreso to make a point, potential versus who's playing better RIGHT NOW, but I still think Luck and Grif are better pure passers than Locker, or were as prospects coming out of college.
Ponder had a great win today but I don't know about his play thus far this season.
IMO Grif has been the most consistent performer on this list in 2012.

Let's talk about how we're grading this then. I'm not basing this solely on how they play RIGHT NOW. If I was, Newton would likely be my first choice. It's kind of a mixture of now and who I think will be better 3-5 years down the road. This is the same reason Matt Stafford ended up winning the poll in the old thread even before he had his breakout 2011 season.

Kinda silly to talk about potential when everyone but Ponder and Dalton have everything you want from a physical standpoint. They were Top 10 picks for a reason.

Yeah didn't hurt that he played in the big 12 where no one plays defense.

Duh, they're not named Cam Newton.
He's hated.....for reasons I can't fathom. At the moment he's the best guy on that list with Dalton (due to production rather than talent) a close second.

You're smoking something if you think Dalton is ahead of Luck and Griffin.

Didn't think RG3 was very good today and that offence is very dink and dunk.
He's also never going to survive in the NFL under Shannahan. He takes FAR too many crushing hits. I'm surprised he could get off the turf today.

Based on physical talent, no. Based on the production he's had in his year and three games in the NFL? Hell yes.
He gets the ball to his playmakers. What more do you want from your QB?

Because 1 season and 3 games is equal to 3 games total.

I think this group has a lot more talent than the last group of young QBs we had a thread about. Looks like more than a couple stars could come out of this group.

Again, it comes down to how you are judging your players. The way I see it is, if I'm starting a franchise today, in which order would you take these guys? If it's based on that and you take Dalton second ahead of guys like Luck and RGIII I don't know what to say to you.

Why doesn't someone create a list based on what the player has done so far. Screw potential, go with what the guy has done. So Dalton may not have anywhere close to the potential as Newton, Luck or Bob, but he has a resume thus far. So rank them by what they accomplished. Take the rookies out right now, and rank the rest. And as the rookies make a name for themselves see where they fit in.

You really wish this were true. He had a bad game on a four day week so he's being shut down? He completed 70% and 300-something and 250. The team also had the most 20+ yard gains before week three, and he's a huge part of that.
The INTs are too high right now but in terms of how he's looked on the field I'd say he's moving better in the pocket and he's been more accurate than last year. He should try to scramble more to help the team. They're really not good enough for him to avoid scrambling like he has been.
Can we stomp out the "sophomore slump" theories too? Statistics show that nearly all sophomore QBs improve in almost all phases. Yes, even Blaine Gabbert will improve.
The NFL is going to have a ridiculous amount of good QBs very soon.

If I were building a team, this is the order I would want them:
1. Andrew Luck
2. Robert Griffin III
3. Cam Newton
4. Jake Locker
5. Sam Bradford
6. Christian Ponder
7. Ryan Tannehill
8. Andy Dalton
9. Russell Wilson
10. Blaine Gabbert
9001. Tim Tebow
90001. Terrelle Pryor
∞. Jimmy Clausen

Locker was a boss today. I watched the entire game, he was very impressive.

If you had to build a team for the future, Luck/RG3/Cam are interchangeable at the top and you wouldn't get much of an argument from me. If you were to wan to win an NFL game TODAY, guys like Ponder and Dalton shoot up the list. Dalton looks pretty damn good, but doesn't have the elite physical tools that these other guys have.

After this week Ponder grew on me and Cam soured on me. You can't tell me that it didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth seeing Cam be a whiney little ***** on the bench.

Personally, I would decisively take Cam or Luck over RG3 but that's just me.

I may to reevaluate everything I've ever said about Ponder. It looks like he's playing up to his draft position.
Can a guy 'will' himself to be a franchise QB??
This was the best win of Ponder's football career since he graduated HS.

I have sustained a Ponder erection for the last 9 hours. I'm calling a doctor.

Like i said, you'd get no argument from me. I can see the supporting evidence to rank any of those guys 1-3. We'd have a discussion if you'd say you'd take one of those other guys ahead of RG3.
