I just want to say I only read the NBA Thread because of BBD's posts. The night and day difference between his football/basketball posts needs a Real Sports segment.

I'm not going to lie. Sometimes his NBA posts affect the way I look at his football posts. Not always but sometimes....especially right after a big dose of NBA thread.

What has Chandler done to be number 3? Win a DPOY award that he got because Dwight got hurt? lol. Does he even have a pulse on offense?

Chandler played great defense that year why is that taken away from him just because dwight was hurt? Tyson doesn't need to score 18ppg to contribute, he comes in scoring 10-12ppg and still be really effective because of his presence, rebounding, block shots, and defense. But I still wouldn't put Cousins at 3 not taking anything away from him, he's still in the 6-5 range for me.

Tyson, Noah, Gortat n Bynum are all close enough that calling Tyson the third C is the least of the problems with BBD's basketball posts.

Bynum is better than all of them.
If Tyson is 3rd. He's a distant 3rd.

STAT sucks now. I used to love him, but he's garbage. Him and Hump would be like a cripple fight.
Tyson and Camby would shut down Brook, but since they have no offense, they wouldn't take advantage of Brook's inability to defend.
But hey, when this season comes and the Knicks come out, guns a blazin' with mediocrity, we'll see what your excuses are then.
The Nets bench with Childress, Mizra, Blatche, and Toko is the most boom or bust thing ever. Could be fun to watch, or disasterous
|
easy there fella, if crash can contain Melo, Shump n Brewer will shut down JJ. Stat isn't garbage, one injury-plagued shortened season where he lost his brother doesn't change that. I'm looking for a top 4-5 finish n a playoff series win. That's attainable without great luck.

Well, except Crash has been known through his career as a defender. Note how I didn't say shut down or smother or shut out. He's a good defender who could slow Melo down decently. And by that, I mean 20ish points instead of 30-40.
But hey, the panty getting in a bunch is nice too. And then using a guy who's out for a while and a bench guy to "shut down" JJ is a nice hyperbole to counter with. Good god I can't wait for this season.

I'm with sick on that one. Bynum's clearly the second best center in the NBA.

I never said Tyson was better than Bynum. I said hes the 3rd best center in the league. Bynum is a clear 2, Dwight is the best.

I'd put him third for the time being, with Noah fighting with him for it.

All the guys in the debate for 3rd best center are pretty damn close imo. Right now, I think it goes Tyson, Gasol, Noah fwiw.

Not sure how the hell Noah is a better C than Cousins. I'd like to hear that one. Also, why is Gortat still being thrown around? Dude is just above average, and is no where near any of these other guys as far as talent or skill is concerned.

Because he's a way better passer, defender, and considerably more efficient.

Cousins is for sure more athletic than Noah but Noah is more well-rounded right now even though I was def impressed with Cousins putting up 40 something?

When you say that someone is a better passer, do you just look at assist numbers, or do you actually consider how they play? Most of last season the offense ran through Cousins in the high post, a lot like how they did with Divac back in the day. He's a good passer and controls the ball movement on offense. I'll give him that he's a better man defender, and his efficiency on offense is only because he scores on dunks where he's wide open, just like Chandler. Cousins' offense is lightyears ahead of both him and Chandler, and he rebounds better than anyone not named Love or Howard.

Cousins destroyed Gortat for 41.

Noah's probably the best passing big in the league, so yeah he's way better than Cousins in that department. Nice homer glasses there though. And yes, he's a more skilled offensive big man but given Noah's advantages in other places (he's a great rebounder as well), he wins.
