Yea wasn't really aimed at you specifically. I think in just about any list though you have Luck RGIII 1 and 2 and most have Cam 3. Its after them that thing's get interesting.

Yeah. Honestly though right now, it's seems these ranks are for right now. I just don't see Cam becoming a pocket passer. And he can't play in that gimmick read option offense his whole career.
Same with RG III.
Right now. I'd say:
1. Luck
2. Andy Dalton
3. RG III
4. Cam Newton
5. Ponder
6. Locker
7. Gabbert
8. Tanehill
_______Mystery: Ryan Mallett
How I think it plays out 3-5 years from now:
1. Luck
2. Mallet
3. Dalton
4. Ponder
5. RG III
6. Newton
7. Gabbert
8. Locker
9. Tanehill
I never reallly liked Locker, so I'll probably get a lot of flack for this. But it seemed every one jumped down his Junk after the performance against Detroit.

Newton won't ever have a season as good as his rookie season and he'll wear out his welcome.
Griffin I don't have a bead on yet, but I think durability will be his ultimate undoing.
Luck will be the face of the league for the next decade plus, and prove to be exactly what all the hype was about.
|
Luck has already shown signs the questions about the zip on his passes and overall arm strength were warranted.
I think he'll be an excellent replacement for Peyton, but I don't know if Luck will ever be a flat dominating NFL QB. Too early right now to say.

This is true. 1st game he breaks records against the Cardinals who had a decent Defense and people were like lets see how good he does against GB. He plays great against GB and they go lets see how he does against against X team. Cam passes for less than 300 yards, people are like "see, see I told you guys defenses were starting to catch up". The season ends "Cam Newton will struggle next season".
Luck before the season.
He is the most pro-ready Qb ever better than most QBs in the NFL.
Built in excuse: If he struggles it is because of his supporting cast. Remember they only won 2 games.
Luck after the bears a game after a meh game. He made great reads, very impressive game. Has a good game against the vikings(the same defense that made Tebow look pretty good) Andrew Luck looks great out there. If that was Newton or Gabbert it would be "Its only the Vikings remember they made Tebow look good" "Lets see how good he looks against the 85 bears",

Griffin was no doubt a amazing player at Baylor, but I still don't see how almost no one questioned the Baylor offensive system in the predraft process. People would just say how spread concepts are becoming more prevalent in the NFL and dismiss the issue. I still take Griffin at #2 but he wasn't as perfect of a prospect as people acted like.
Cam is just a player that splits peoples opinions on him. You either love him for his ability or hate him for his attitude. I recognize his tools but hate his personality, so I end up semi rooting against him.

People did question Baylor's offensive system when they evaluated Griffin. That's why it's key to isolate the player within the system and identify his individual play.
RGIII 'outplayed' Baylor's Air Raid offense, if that makes sense. He and Nick Florence did many similar things passing, but Griffin IMO had a better command of the offense, which makes sense since he was a 4 year starter.
BTW Nick Florence just might be a good QB in his own right.
It is funny how the Cam haters never went away, they were only biding their time until at which point it was appropriate to pile on Newton again.
Cam wants to win and takes losing too personally. I think he really believed the Panthers were SB contenders this season.

Every QB should think that their team is a SB contender.

I said it last year as the season progressed Cam Newton had a lot of growing to do As a passer bc he's not going to be able to run like he did his rookie year successfully. He's getting the memo now.

People need to remember that we're 3 games into the season and lighten up a bit.

Being a Colts fan, watching Luck in his rookie year is quite a treat. I didnt get to see much of Peyton as a rookie, but Luck seems to have the "it" factor and looks to be a top 3 QB in 3 years. Which is crazy to think since he will only be 25/26 by that time.
Once our young TEs (Fleener and Allen) develop more, along with our young WRs, and once we spend some of that huge amount of cap space we have to surround Luck with more talent, he will be unstoppable.

Why would they include a QB in this who isn't a starter? And having a good preseason? Why, CK must be Shaun Hill 2.0!

that would be fast. Very few QB's are crowned as top 3 in their first 3 years. Even if he's lights out amazing, he'll still be behind the guys who have been doing it longer.

Luck is as good as advertised but he is getting a lot of slack kinda. Everything mechanically and physically looks great. He senses pressure well and buys time and runs when he needs to. He needs to shape up some of his decisions and throws. Its just a couple balls here and there he needs to not throw. He puts a couple balls up for the receiver to go get that he shouldn't. Its only been 3 games so I'm positive that he will have it worked out by the end of the season.
The majority of the weapons for Luck are young, but he is really lucky that Wayne stayed around. A good vet WR who can get open is really valuable to a young QB. I haven't watched every snap closely but he gets decent time also and can work the time/pocket that is available.

Those are completely fine for a rookie to be making. Hell I'd rather my rookie be screwing by being a little too aggressive in his decision making than too conservative. As long as he reading the play and using those mistakes to learn when, where and what he can pull off and what he can't get away with.

Yeah it's about time Tannehill gets serious consideration on a list like this.

I think Andy Dalton has to be proving himself to a lot on here.
He has shown he has plenty of arm strength. The accuracy is there.
The touch is getting better on deep passes.
Decision making is improving.
Jay Gruden and Andy deserve a ton of credit for what they are doing with guys who are 2 UDFA types as our #2 and #3 WR.

I'm worried some about Locker's injuries. But he has talent without a doubt. In the SD game he threw a pass on the run about 65 yards in the air. It was incomplete, but everyone sitting around me was like "damn". He has a cannon arm and great speed. I don't like Palmer as his QB "guru" though. His background is from a very antiquated style of offense. The Titans should be working out of more of a spread look.

RG3 has the athletic ability of a WR, the brain the caliber of Luck, an arm like Newton, great accuracy, great deep ball, the work ethic of Tom Brady and the leadership ability of a Peyton Manning... RG3 is the prototype... He's the guy I'd want if I'm starting a team.
