We should totally discuss Alex Smith and his rating in relation to other NFL QBs. I don't think that has ever, in the history of the world, been discussed before.

As for Cutler, he's kind of a rhythm passer. When he's hot, he's unbelievable. From week 5 to week 11 last year, he was one of the best in the league. When he's not in a rhythm, he can look bad. Unfortunately, that's where we are right now. And with the offense he has around him, his streakiness is magnified. He seems to get frustrated and his footwork/accuracy/decision making breaks down. So, I can't necessarily defend him as an elite QB, because that shouldn't happen to elite QBs. But when he's on, he plays like an elite QB. He'll win you games by himself in tough situations that a guy like Matt Ryan would not. And he's on more often than not.....he's certainly better than a clearly washed up Michael Vick.
And yeah, the people that point to the 2010 season as a negative are dumb. The playoff win WAS against a 8-9 team (that BTW beat the Saints the previous week), but the fact that he had that team at 12-5 in the NFCCG was extremely impressive.
|
I'd love to hear the argument for Ryan's stats being inflated. Today is the first time all year he's even had to throw in the 4th quarter. Before today, he was 15th in the league in attempts.

Since he mentions Ryan in that sentence with Stafford...I'm going to assume it's because he thinks they both take steroids that make their receivers bigger and faster...

Brandon Marshall isn't exactly a slouch either. I figured he was talking about the number of attempts each of them throw, Stafford has already thrown 48+ times twice this season.

Ryan beasted today. Doesn't have a rifle but he doesn't need one. He had a fantastic game.

He threw two rainbows that Nakamura completely misplayed. One led to a 40 yard TD, one for 60 yards.
So take 100 yards and a TD off his rating and add an INT (conservatively) for good measure. Sure he still beasted?

If we're going to play that game...if the Raiders didn't miss blocks and if they held Peyton Manning in check...and if you take away 34 of the Broncos points...the Raiders would have won. Therefore the Raiders had a good game.

This is ridiculous, we're going to take away from Ryan's stats now because he took advantage of poor DB play? Give me a break. Was it Nakamura's fault last year when the same thing happened too?

Yeah. Agreed. Too many nitpickers out there. Ryan made 2 big throws giving his receivers a chance to make a play and they did. That performance was phenomenal but I hope his oline does a better job keeping him clean. He took a beating.

I can not believe the tremendous backing of a very average QB in Jay Cutler, who can at times turn it up to great QB play.
That 2010 Bears team was led by a great defense and solid running game, stop trying to say it was due to Cutler. Cutler threw 16 picks and had 9 fumbles that year, a QB rating of 85.

Everyone just wants to see Cutler be the guy he can potentially be and has occasionally shown. He's had to deal with a bottom 10 WR & OL group pretty much his entire time in Chicago, dipping into bottom 5 at times. I think its decent excuse why he doesn't do consistently what he is capable of. He is borderline top 10 to me, but I agree he gets more slack than he deserves.

He can have the stats. It doesn't mean he 'beasted' the game though. He was incredibly lucky.
Also "Get schooled, son". Really? What are you, 5?

You could literally say that about most quarterbacks most weeks. Dropped picks, blown coverage, whatever. **** happens. Quit whining.

Freeman annoys me to no end. Sucks for one half of a game, then all of a sudden he flicks the switch and beasts for the other half. He either needs to play bad all the time so we can move in a new direction, or play good all the time so we dont have to be so frustrated at him.

His whole career is frustrating. His 1st start we win our first game after going 0-7 while throwing 3 TD's and one int, the rest of the year was rookie struggles. Then his 2nd year he looks like the future leading the team to 10-6. Last year was just plain awful. So far this year he's looked pretty bad except at the end of the Giants and Skins games.

He either needs to suck so we can get a top 5 pick and replace him, or stop being inconsistent and play up to his potential. NO MORE GAMES JOSH.

I'm not arguing that he's a bad QB. Just that he didn't 'beast' it against the Panthers.
He threw two rainbow lollipops that a competent FS intercepts. That was the difference in the game.

You can't really look at the 2nd half of the Washington game either and say it was considered good. The Washington defense is terrible and heck, even Sam Bradford ripped them apart for well over 300 yards and 2 tds.
Honestly, when you go back to 2010, Freeman feasted off weaker opposing defenses and sucked it up against the Steelers, Ravens, Saints, Falcons twice. Basicallly in every loss and there was no film on him. He hasn't responded snce the 2010 season.
