I'm giving Wayne the benefit of the doubt, but statistically it's not even close.

Marvin Harrison was one of the most prolific and consistent WRs to ever play the game.

No RGIII got rocked against the Falcons on a legit football play and scramble by the QB.

But this entire season Mike SHanahan has been running variations of the option with Robert, with mixed results. Cincy DE Carlos Dunlap I thought killed RGIII on an option run a couple games ago.
Mike and Kyle had been playing RGIII like he was Tebow 2.0. They cleaned most of that up against Atlanta.

Harrison and Manning was one of the top combos all time. They were psychic together. The farther we get from Harrison retiring the more we forget how amazing the guy was. He struggled in the playoffs and he was baby soft but the guy was an amazing player.

For a while, there was even talk that he could break some of Rice's records. His 143 reception season shattered the previous record of 123.

Harrison was every bit as good as TO and Moss.

Harrison was not as good as those guys. He was complete garbage in the playoffs outside of one year.

Actually even in that one year he sucked in the loss to the Pats.

Marvin Harrison was one of the most prolific and consistent WRs to ever play the game.

Saying much better is hyperbole but, both in their primes, I'd take Wayne over Harrison. I always thought Manning made them both but Wayne is playing like the best WR in the league this season. He's doing it by himself basically with no other top threats on the Colts and a rookie QB. Luck is Luck but he's actually missed him for big plays in part of the games I've seen.

Harrison was great when teams let him get off the line, but he was a guy like Jimmy Smith and McCardell that was great because of his intelligence and relationship with his QB. They outsmarted a lot of DBs, but when guys got physical with them or didn't get tricked, they were quiet. Wayne's just more dynamic, he can go up and get the ball better and he can do more with the ball in his hands.

The five yard contact rules became a 'point of emphasis' for the NFL along with the tighter calls on PI downfield IMO were done directly to correct all the mugging the Pats did to Marvin Harrison in the playoffs that was never called.

Guys like Ty Law and Rodney Harrison were allowed to routinely manhandle Marvin up and down the field in the playoffs. That wouldn't be allowed today.

marvin will forever be one of my least favorite players. guy played like a coward. how many times did we see him run a comeback and step out of bounds with no one within 10 yards of him how many times did we see him catch a quick slant and curl up on the turf right after so he wouldn't take a hit. helped his numbers and helped his career longevity i guess. i'm assuming he started carrying a gun and shooting people as a means of avoiding physical contact.

This may all very well be true, but what points is Austin Collie getting for being a big brave man to rumble across the middle and take as many shots as possible? It is what it is. You can call Marvin Harrison a coward but he played for a very, very long time and still has his health while not having to worry about bright lights giving him a headache.


Jason Witten does the same thing, is it a surprise he's been as durable as he has been while Antonio Gates has constantly battled injuries?

I'm just glad he's getting a chance to do so, sure he had Peyton but Wayne was long underrated around here as some product of Peyton Manning. It seems like if your not 6'5, 220+, and run under a 4.4 then you can't be a special WR. Not enough people pay attention to route running, knowing how to read coverages, finding the soft spots in zones and not running through them, how graceful he was at getting two feet in bounds no matter where he was.


I hope Wayne keeps it up, I'm happy that he'll finally start to get some recognition.

Not again it looks like Matty Ice was the correct answer all along.

And Cam was a fluke who caught teams by surprise the first month last year. His act is old now. And they still lose.

The lesson here is these things aren't etched in stone. Guys go up and down. Even the MVP Rodgers looks like crap a lot this year.

Brees & Brady seem to be the only constants.
