We're going to see what we are really made of Sunday, if we can't beat a hurt Steeler team at home then I don't see us getting more than 5 wins this year. Pryor will need to see the field somehow soon, give him a package with DMC in the backfield and we might break a run for once.

I don't know how well we're going to look.
Keys to the game are get after Big Ben. Contain is the name of the game. Can't let him run around do what he does. The DBs will have to cover as long as possible.
On offense, DMC has to get going. Then PA....hopefully Red Rocket comes out looking good throwing strikes.

Great to see a huge win at home, we needed this one bad for us to have any hope for the rest of the year. DMC finally got going at times and the oline looked better today. Huge game for Carson Palmer though, in each game this season IMO he's done all he could with the talent we have and today things finally went our way with the pass attack. DHB had a scary concussion and should be out a few weeks, so I'm hoping either Criner or a F/A are able to fill in his position for the near future.

I was pleasantly surprised with the win. I figured with the way we've played so far and the injuries on D we had no shot. I guess anything can happen any given Sunday. Palmer was efficient and DMC was making plays. Overall the offense played pretty well considering the Steelers always seemed to have the ball. Something that might have been mentioned once during the game was the lack of Raider penalties. We only had 3 all game.
The pass D got shred up as expected, I'm actually surprised Pitt didn't put up more points. The run defense was never really tested, but I expect the Raiders D will be the downfall of this years team. It's going to be tough going through week 12. Jax/KC/TB are probably the games we have the best chance in during that span, and if we can pull another upset or two against Den/Atl/Bal/NO/Cincy we might not be in that bad of shape.

I'm manic depressive when it comes to the Raiders this year.
Feels good to steal that win. Good to see DMC get going today. Let's see some more of that. The front has been stout, is you would expect with so many guys at 6-5+ ranging from 275-330lbs. But this defense needs a pass rusher as much as anything right now. If the Raiders could have someone who could just get to the QB, the patchwork secondary wouldn't seem so vulnerable.
Give me a Rod Coleman, Derrick Burgess, Chris Clemons, Lance Johnstone type of player. I want a guy who can pin their ears back and get that edge or shoot the gap with the best of them. Someone who will get in the QB's face and make him feel the heat.
Right now, no one on this dline is doing that.

What do you guys think about Sunday?
Our lack of pass rushers worries me. Even a broken Peyton can pick apart our patched up secondary.
Carson may have a solid against theirs though.

What did you guys think of Willie Smith? I didn't really analyze the game, but he seemed like he did a solid job. Didn't notice much pressure coming from the right side outside of one sack from Woodley.

I don't recall any problems from that side so I guess he did alright.

Would take a big effort to be any worse than Barnes.

O-line couldn't protect for **** today. Constant pressure on Palmer every time he dropped back while Manning had all day.

Not going to go into a huge analysis this time because well, it really hasn't changed at all.
Offense wasn't great, O-line totally **** the bed. Palmer was ok. DMC couldn't get a whole lot going.
Defense was terrible too. Especially the secondary. Huff was starting at CB. HUFF...our starting FS. Our D-line needs an infusion of speed. Nothing but big beefy dudes that can control the line but it doesn't do much good if you can't get after the QB when needed.
Terrible terrible terrible.

Not many positives to take away from a game like that, our problems on defense will take a few drafts to fix at this rate while we still lack the oline and talent at WR to make any plays on offense. A #1 WR, DE, CB or LB need to be addressed before we make any noise.

It looks like Wiz and Veldheer are the only keepers. At this point I'd say we're OK at LBer. DB and DE are needs. WR isn't the biggest concern, yes we don't have a true #1 but we have a solid group if they can stay healthy. As always, QB is also a need.

I agree with you about the WR's, but I don't see how QB is a need right now. Obviously Palmer isn't getting any younger and we'll need a QB of the future for once Carson is gone, but I'm fine with him for now. Palmer is definitely not the problem with this team.
I would also add DT as a big need. We haven't had a big run stuffing DT in forever and I don't think it's a coincidence that we've been so bad against the run for so long.

I really want Barkley or Wilson or Smith...but at this point...I'd be more than OK if the Raiders got a Jarvis Jones.

Jarvis Jones would be nothing to be mad about.. pass rushers run the league outside of QBs and we could use that to give our secondary a break unless we go the QB route which would also be cool with me.

Some people are giving us a chance at the upset but I honestly don't see it. Not AT Atlanta. The secondary is still crap and they have Julio Jones and Roddy White. Old man Tony can still get it done with his route running. Matt Ryan will tear the D a new one if we can't get after him.
On offense I can see us maybe staying around for a little bit. They're without Grimes and their pass rush isn't all that great either. DMC HAS to get it going for Oakland to have any chance and the receivers have to really step up.
|
Obviously I don't like our chances. I think our best shot would be to run the crap out of the ball with DMC and Co to try and keep it away from Ryan and the Falcons passing attack. We'd also have to get some key turnovers.
We're gonna get torched though, lol.

Haha, yeah I sorta solved that problem. I figured it would be weird talking Raiders/Falcons in the draft thread.

If we don't beat JAX I will be sooooo sooooo sad. I will drink my little heart out and cry all night. Especially if Gabbert looks like he belongs in the NFL.

Our offense as a whole should have a good game, the Jax D isn't very good. They are bottom 10 in both rushing and passing yards/game. I think we should win this game, I feel we are the better team, but I'm still worried. Our defense is almost as bad, so MJD could go off and cause big problems. I hope we bring our big boy pants because I don't want to have to watch another pathetic loss.
