Struggling against the Giants and the Seahawks isn't too large of a concern going forward. On any given Sunday those 2 teams could play like the best defense in the league, and in Seattle's case it may be every Sunday.

Lardarius Webb done for the year after an MRI confirms a torn ACL.
Ray Lewis also expected to miss the year with torn triceps, MRI still pending.
Not good for the Ravens defense that is already struggling. That offense has been improved this year, but I don't know if it can carry the team with no help from the defense like the Pats and Packers did last year.

Well, they took a pretty nasty beat down in the running game yesterday, not surprised to see them injured. Webb's injury was more of a freak occurrence, was just in coverage and his knee buckled. Pretty sad, honestly, cause there was a play where i thought we'd lose Mo Claiborne for the year also.

What looked like an average defense just go a whole lot worse after yesterday. I really don't see that team going anywhere down the stretch.
Not sure what to think of the AFC as there are probably a half dozen teams better in the other conferance.

Is the career of Ray Lewis over? He'll be 38 when next season starts.
As for them not doing anything down the stretch, I don't think these injuries will have too much effect. Their defense is 26th in the league right now. They are winning inspite of their defense this year.

It's funny how the conferences flip flop every half decade or so. It wasn't long ago that the AFC was super dominant while the NFC couldn't even get 6 teams over .500 to fill out the playoffs. Now the NFC is dominant and the AFC struggles to get anyone far over .500.
Those two Ravens injuries, plus Ngata who is going to miss a little time with a knee injury, is probably going to to cripple that team. The offense has taken steps forward, but they aren't at a level like the Pats or Packers last year to carry the entire team into the playoffs.

Barely winning in spite of the defense. Now you take away more key pieces of an already bad defense and they're going to hit rock bottom.

They'll still make the playoffs. But they're not a SB caliber team anymore.

Worst kept secret. Jahvid Best is done for the year. Lots of talk the Lions knew he wasn't going to play this year but kept him around so he could qualify for a league pension.

That pension thing makes sense. I couldn't believe that, in this age where the NFL is so concussion sensitive, he would be allowed to play again after missing a year and a half with concussion issues.

Sidney Crosby (NHL) came back under similar circumstances and he plays a violent sport. But yeah, I'm about 95 percent sure his career is done. At least the spotlight put on concussions has probably saved Best from a terrible second half of his life. He should be able to live a normal life but 5-10 years ago he might be playing instead of sitting out. I just feel bad for the guy because he had real talent and he had a very short career.
Its stupid but I'm starting to think the Lions have a Barry Sanders running back curse.

Charles Woodson has a broken collarbone. Out for 4-6 weeks.

Hopefully Shields is able to return this week. If he does, they'll be OK. House, Hayward, Shields can get it done. I just don't want to see Jarrett Bush getting extended reps on D
If this was a few years ago, it would be a bigger loss

Looks like Gabbert is out for two months, possibly for the rest of the year.

Jaguars saw that the Chiefs were switching to Quinn and had to make their bid for first overall.

The Jags are also going to be without MJD for the rest of the year probably so I think the Jags have the edge. But watching the Henne vs. Quinn suck fest for the top pick is going to be entertaining.

I'm pretty sure there's soccer players who'd be better QBs than Sanchez.
