Almost every Patriot I'd subject to waivers is an impending free agent or on injured reserve though.

I thought DBs were eligible for this exercise.

I don't disagree with JR. I keep thinking that Hester must be due to fall off a cliff. Return men are usually great for only two or three seasons. Hester is in his 7th season and he turns 30 in a few weeks.

The only Patriots DBs eligible would be Devin McCourty, Alfonzo Dennard, Ras-I Dowling, Steve Gregory, Tavon Wilson, and Nate Ebner though. None of those guys is part of the problem. Now if we're talking Kyle Arrington...

Hester is the best returner of all time. But he isn't as great as he used to be. There are a few guys in the league who are at his level now.

Do you have any idea the hell that would be unleashed by Raven and Colt fanbases if that happened? Could you imagine the Yankees putting up Jeter in an expansion draft? Come on, son, get it together.

The Colts cut Manning, so not much difference in putting him in the expansion draft. The Jaguars put Tony Boselli into the Houston Expansion Draft. He was their first ever draft pick. He was their best player when healthy. Hell, he played at an all-time great level when healthy. But the Jags had no more need for him. There is no loyalty in the NFL.

If Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, and Peyton Manning can be shown the door, anybody can.

Unfortunately, i don't think most of these guys would quailfy, as their contracts are up after this season. I think Spears only signed a one year deal.
1. Doug Free - this one's easy. makes way too much money and he's playing like dogshit.
2. Gerald Sensebaugh - guy that got a little too much money, i think
3. Mackenzie Bernadeu - waste.
4. Phil Costa - t-rex arms
5. Kevin Ogletree - guy with enough talent to make a difference, too stupid to ever do anything.

DeAngelo Williams
Jon Beason
Charles Godfrey
Dwan Edwards
Jimmy Clausen
Considered putting up Stewart as well because I do believe you can get running backs for much cheaper, but I do like him as a player. Beason would be a tough offer, but he clearly is not the same post injury. Kuechly has played extremely well in the middle, and consequently Beason's contract is just a bit too much.

Bernard and Locklear are one 1 year deals so they are FA's after the year.

The expansion team will be able to select any of these players with the stipulation that they must pay the entirety of that player's remaining contract. Teams are optionally allowed to withdraw their other players after two have been selected from their team.
Who are your team's five players?
|
Great question.
My five are probably:
Richard Seymour
Tommy Kelly
Mike Brisiel
Michael Huff
and Greg Knapp
Oh, we can't do coaches?
Then probably Carson Palmer.
Reggie McKenzie did a TON of house cleaning of the offseason with the deadweight contracts. The Palmer one is the weirdest one. The Raiders don't have a clearcut replacement for him, but at the same time, would an expansion team want a 33 year old QB with a ton of guaranteed money?
Rolando McClain and DHB were options for me as well.

Wouldn't put Flynn up, he has trade some value still if you wanna get rid of him. Not sure I'd put Giacomini up, he's made some dumb mistakes but he's still the best we have at RT. I believe Trufant and Edwards are free agents next year so they aren't eligable.
Mine would be.
Golden Tate- Needs no explanation, dude sucks.
Ben Obomanu- Been on the team for a while, never made an impact.
Paul McQuiston- Awful
Heath Farwell- Just a special teams guy.
Winston Guy- Team is stacked and youth at safety and he's last on the depth chart.

Ravens:
Brendan Ayanbadejo
Matt Birk
Anquan Boldin
Jameel McClain
Bobbie Williams
Not a terribly hard exercise for the Ravens. The only one on the list that's questionable is Boldin but I think they might cut him after this season anyways if he doesn't start producing. With the state of the defense they might hang onto him though and focus on that side in the draft. There are a few former late-round draft picks and unrestricted free agents that could take Boldin's place but that's about it.

Redskins:
1. Dezmon Briscoe: SUCKS
2. Barry Cofield: Overpaid long term and not producing enough in the 34.
3. Reed Doughty: Seriously why is he on the team.
4. Deangelo Hall: 7.5 mil next year, 9 mill the following no thanks.
5. Brandon Merriweather: No expectations for him.

Tomorrow, if work is still slow for me, i'm going to look through all these guys being offered and put together a team. I'm sure it will be horrific.
