I'm actually staying in Beaverton and commuting daily, which sucks. Way more financially sensible.

The third part of The Sound and the Fury is a lot more readable, makes it a lot easier for me to appreciate Faulkner. I still would need to reread the book in order to get an appropriate appreciation however, and it will be a while before I get a chance at that. I may try and look at some of his other stuff though.

Most of Faulkner is a goddamn beating to read. All his works are so dense.

I read Oil! this past week. It was pretty good, but despite being a fan of Steinbeck(I know Sinclair wrote it), I felt the socialist overtones were a bit much. A great book, but I felt Bunny's opinions were a bit too featured.

I read The Perks of Being A Wallflower over the weekend on a suggestion. Its actually very good, I completely missed the sexual abuse on the first read through. Nonetheless, I'm anticipating the time until I see Emma Watson performing the lonesome time fun.

I've since started reading Moby Dick, and although I'm only through a third through it, I'm a big fan. There are sections completely in which I'm uninterested(more particularly, they are simply extremely extravagantly written), but overall, its a very well written novel. The writing style is a bit outdated, but I personally like it.

I wanted to reread Perks (and check out the movie, <3 Emma) but never got around to it. Definitely one of my favorite summer reading books in my school years. I also forgot about that aspect of the story, need to find my copy/pick one up.

It is no era-defining masterpiece. That being said, it's relatively short and simply written, yet addressing many issues that people in high school go through or they at least consider. The main character can at some points be annoying(he cries a lot), but at other points interesting, especially if you can actually understand him and what he is going through. Knowing what I know now, I'll probably reread it in a year or two for perspective, again because its relatively short yet interesting.

If that fancies you, then read it. If it doesn't, like I said its quite good, but not necessarily a classic.

Finished Moby-Dick a few days ago. Melville's story telling is top notch, sadly he puts way too much cetology in it. I honestly coudn't care how long a whale is, or big its rib cage is. Thus the life of a whale.

Haha, I'm re-reading all the classics as I have to take Praxis exams in order to get certified. I'm making a massive of list of books to read to prepare for that, as well as a list that will likely be covered when I teach.

Just finished reading the Illiad. It's good stuff. I really enjoy it much more than I did when I read it in high school.

I honestly doubt it, but if you ever teach them Moby-Dick, simply remove all cetology classes. Its kind of nice to know what they're hunting, but in an academic setting you could teach it fairly quickly. Moby-Dick is certainly very good if you can get past cetology, but if not, I understand why it was ignored by my public education.

On an unrelated note, I'm into World War Z, and although I borrowed it from a friend, I hope I'm soon to begin on Young Stalin. World War Z, although very differentiated, still a good zombie book.

Haha yeah, I've never read it myself, but it's something I'd like to read. I've literally got over a 100 books on my list to read or re-read.

Finished SOIAF series again and after a quick read of Jennifer Government (I actually find Max Berry extremely entertaining) I'm finally going for a new series instead of a reread.

Has anyone read Shadowmarch series? I'm only like 100 pages in but sounds good so far

Haha, I completely understand. As an undergrad I did almost zero reading for leisure. I still don't do much but partly getting my masters in English is giving more of a chance to read.

Recently finished The Unlikely Spy by Daniel Silva. I thought it was a great story and cleverly crafted into a bit of true history (invasion of Europe during WWII). It's up there with The Company by Robert Littell for me, as far as historical fiction novels go.

If anyone is interested in some fantasy stuff check out The Black Company novels. They're easy reads but very well done and entertaining.

Anyone read the book Limitless? I heard it's good.
I haven't seen the movie so I figure it might be worth a read.
I heard a couple positive reviews on it.
