Default Teams moving on to new HC's/GM's

Thought i'd compile a list of teams that will likely be firing their HC's and GM's after this year. After going through this list i realize there's likely to be a LOT of turnover. Here's what i see going down

Chiefs- GM Scott Pioli, HC Romeo Crennel

-This one is obvious. Haven't led for 1 second of regulation, going into the year with the QB situation as it was, and Pioli hiring Crennel based off of 3 decent games last year. Total rebuild is on the way in KC.

Panthers- GM Marty Hurney (already fired), HC Ron Rivera

-Hurney's draft classes have struggled to make an impact and he keeps trading future picks away (even their 2013 3rd rounder was traded to the 49ers for a 2012 4th). Rivera shows a lack of leadership, and his teams have lost so many close games. The Bears literally ran the same slant play over and over to drive down the field for a game-winning FG and there's basically a mutiny from Carolina's plays. Rivera is as good as gone.

Chargers- GM AJ Smith, HC Norv Turner

-Long overdue. Both barely kept their jobs last year, the Chargers still look bad and Rivers has regressed. Both are gone.

Jaguars- GM Gene Smith, HC Mike Mularkey

-This team looks bad week in and week out, and so does Gabbert. He has recently put together 2 decent to good games (although he was injured early against Oakland 2 weeks ago). Plain and simple, this Jaguars team may be one of the least talented in the NFL. Mularkey is a retread and gets caught up in the situation.

Titans- HC Mike Munchak

-Don't think their GM is in trouble (is it Ruston Webster or Mike Reinfeldt?). Don't think the Titans have a lot of talent anyways but i think they try to get an offensive HC to work with Jake Locker next year.

Browns- HC Pat Shurmur, GM Tom Heckert

-Ownership change, the team is pathetic every year, and the team president (Holmgren) is already fired. No brainer.

Bills- HC Chan Gailey, GM Buddy Nix

-They haven't taken the next step, no franchise QB, and Mario Williams may be one of the worst FA signings ever. No impact whatsoever.

Jets- GM Mike Tannebaum

-This Jets team has little productive talent, they're overstrapped financially with terrible deals with Holmes and Sanchez, and speaking of Sanchez, he's awful. I like Rex and think he's a good coach but this team has little talent. I think he gets a reprieve.

Eagles- Andy Reid (both HC and effectively GM)

-Reid wears both hats and his time is coming to an end. Just fired his DC and his D responded with their worst effort of the year. He's close to benching Vick. Expectations are high and the Eagles are just too mediocre. Playoffs or he's gone.

So, in summation, that's 9 teams- counting the Eagles, my best guess is 7 teams will totally rebuild with a new GM AND a new HC. Then add in other teams where 1 is likely to be fired while the other saves their job, for at least another year.

Save their job, enter the hot seat next year (no winning season- likely automatic firing) - Jason Garrett in Dallas, Ken Whisenhunt/Rod Graves in Arizona, Leslie Frazier in Minnesota, Pete Carroll in Seattle, Dennis Allen in Oakland (possibly), Marvin Lewis with the Bengals, and Rex Ryan with the Jets.

Thoughts on this list? Do you agree or disagree? Which teams do you think will turn over their FO/Coaching Staff this year?

I'll just say the the most obvious is probably Smith and/or Turner. I'd be surprised if it wasn't both though. Even if they made the playoffs this season, I think they're both gone unless they get to the AFC Championship game. Not sure what could save them at this point.

I don't think the Titans are cutting ties with Munchak though. This is just his second season with the team and even though we live in the microwave era, a guy is usually going to get close to 3 years unless the team is just God-awful, and the Titans aren't that yet.

Have to say I agree. Munch should just stay to coaching the defensive side of the ball.

Other tits fans don't like it?

The Chiefs aren't in total rebuild mode, they're in total new coach/FO/QB mode.

Titans aren't firing Munchak this year. And FYI, he and the FO have been more focused on offense in their 2 seasons here than Jeff Fisher was his entire coaching career combined.

Also, Webster is GM. Reinfeldt is President.

I agree with you on Rex Ryan. The defense would be top 5 if he had the talent. The offense would pretty good a few years ago when they had Thomas Jones. Sanchez is an absolute bust and Holmes isn't the same player as he was in Pittsburgh.

I just can't see Buffalo making a change this year, n not just because Ralph doesn't wanna have someone not to work for him. Nix has done a pretty good job building that team. That defense is just a couple pieces away from being elite and offensively their problems are that Fitz isn't a franchise QB and they don't have many reliable receivers other than Stevie and the running backs. But Nix has done well for them with the opportunities he's had, he's just gotta figure out how to find a franchise QB without a top 5 pick and fill out the depth in the receiving and pass rushing corps.'s and they could be real contenders in the AFC.

I agree. The talent has gotten worse over the past few years. Add that to the fact that Sanchez hasn't developed nor does he make anybody around him better.

My perfect offseason for the Jets would be to bring in a new GM and new QB while keeping Rex. The Jets are kind of stuck with Sanchez for 1 more year though.

I used to think Cowher would make a lot of sense for Carolina but I don't think there's any way in hell he wants to deal with Cam Newton's ego.

I love the thought of Cowher to the Browns.. that team is built for him and he could turn them around fast... but I don't know if he'd want to go against the Steelers in that division.

Cowher wants to choose his own GM, and he wants a team with a good qb. That's why SD is a no brainer.

I think Cowher to the Browns is the best fit. On offense they have a great LT a very good C and a bunch on young kids. Richardson looks like a beast, Gordon looks like a big play guy. Weeden doesn't look that bad.

Plus they have a storied history and now Pitt ownership.

Sanchez can be nice if things are working with him but Mr T. and our evaluators have provided the offense with such terrible talent and declining talent year by year. Its a come a point where our targets now drop passes on a routine basis and our O-Line has declined year after year where I truly feel many QBs would fail if as the QB of the Jets. This does excuse Sanchez who has been pretty lackluster this year but people think drafting a QB or getting someone else will somehow right the ship when that's so wrong. I think Sanchez just takes the center stage on the woes of this team when we have so many holes due to poor decisions by our FO led by awful drafting. Never has the NFL Draft become so vital for teams to build and restock and the Jets just do not get it. Its one thing to trade for veterans....that's alright. Its another to do what I will get into right now...

As I mentioned to robcards in another thread....

Me too. He's been a joke the past 5 drafts. Lone good picks was Kerley in round 5, McKnight in round 4(As a kick returner) and Slauson in round 6(Won't even include Sanchez since he has not played like a top 5 pick! Keller has been okay has not been a game changing TE like expected in round 1). 3 good picks based on draft value in FIVE drafts LOL. Mo Wilk I am a fan of but its a wait and see on him. Same with this so far lackluster 2012 class.

His 06 and 07 drafts got him far too much hype and even he had to trade the farm for Revis/Harris.

As Mel Kiper once said it best.....The New York Jets just do not understand what the draft is all about. YOU DO NOT TRADE UP EVERY SINGLE F'N YEAR. You draft for depth even with the late round picks so when injuries happen, then you can have backups come in and fill the role. Mr T. has this fetish to trade up and this especially blows when the talent you trade up for don't cash in.

I even blame Rex in an instance because our run defense is garbage and our secondary blows too many assignments, this was even with Revis back there. Add that we've yet to ever get a pass rusher under Rex Ryan and he does hold some blame but I do attack Mr T. and his draft evaluating stooges for the most part.

If the Jets do not make the playoffs, Mike Tannebaum NEEDS to go.

Not true. Holmes has taken off plays and since getting his contract(He and Sanchez were very good in 2010) he has had some costly drops and fumbles as a Jet. He's also been a locker room brat.

Holmes has been bad as a Jet but its his own doing. He's become an albatross of a contract and because of the payday, he's stop caring.

Yes, Gene and Mularkey have to go. Both guys do things the right way. hard workers. But they suck ass. As stupid as this will sound to all of you, Gabbert still has a chance to prove himself in my eyes. It can't hurt at least to see what he does in the last 9 games. But Gene and Mularkey are canned automatically.

I am very curious as to what's gonna happen in Philly. I dont see Reid staying, will be an intriguing job for a lot of people.

I always had a feeling Jon Gruden was wanting for the San Diego job to open up, so we'll see what happen there. Also I could see Andy Reid fitting in Kansas City nicely.

He could keep the tradition of not giving the ball to Jamaal Charles alive and well.
