Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
he's impressed me so far with his play. if he comes out this year, i think he can be a 2nd-3rd round pick. i think he can be a real weapon in the nfl as he can score in multiple ways. the video lists him at 6'3", i've seen him listed at 6'4". i also believe he runs faster than the 40 time listed in the video. first highlight, burns nc state prospect david amerson. what do you guys think?

With his size, speed and run after the catch ability I could see him in the top half of Round 2. He also adds return ability to his game. Looks like a guy who could get a lot of YAC. I think he's a very intriguing prospect.

For a guy his size he has some crazy change of direction ability and speed, the talent is definitely there. Not a finished product but I could see him blowing up the combine and going in the first.

He's still pretty raw in his route running and catching ability so I'd like to see him come back one more year. I'm just selfish though.
He'll blow up at the combine and workouts if he declares and go late 1st round.

Cordarelle Patterson is a first round talent. He has the same skill set as Percy Harvin except he's bigger. Might be the most dangerous player in the country with the ball in his hands. He would be even better if he wasn't playing in the SEC and didn't have two other potential NFL talents in the same receiving core. Justin Hunter is nice, but Cordarelle Patterson is a straight gamebreaker. If he stays for next year he's a bonafide top 20 pick.

Reminds me so much of Julio Jones. Would be my #1 WR if he comes out, should probably stay another year though.

I think he's a first round talent as long as he doesn't have any character issues. When I saw him line up in the backfield I realized that he was a absolute freak. When this dude has the ball in his hands their is nobody better. This is someone that you could compare to Dez Bryant, but I think he's faster and has a leaner body. It seems like the NFL is starting to move more into a spread like league and players like this thrive in offenses where you get the ball to athletes in space. He's a mix between Percy and Dez Bryant with Julio Jones body.

Thing that may help or hurt Patterson is that he's considered the No.2 on the Vols which might not rate him highly since some feel that Justin Hunter has gotten the assignments of the opponent's top CB.
Its happened last year for the Irish with Floyd and Eifert where because of Floyd, Eifert was able to put up monster numbers since teams had to respectfully play Notre Dame up with the targets outside. Now with Floyd gone, Eifert has basically shifted into that role and has seen a drop in production.

I would agree with you, but honestly I don't think receiving is what makes Patterson such a intriguing prospect. What's going to make him so desirable is the fact that not only can he play receiver, but he probably is one of the top return specialist in the country. At 6'3 215 and a threat to score anytime you touch the ball you're gonna turn lots of heads. Justin Hunter is probably a better pure receiver, but I don't think theirs a comparison in playmaking ability.

Patterson is raw as hell from a technical standpoint, but he's flat out electric with the ball in his hands. He can make full speed cuts like I've rarely seen from a receiver his size.

I'm giving you kind of a hard time about Jarvis Jones in the other thread, but I think you're right on about this one. Someone was trying to compare Marquis Lee to Dez Bryant recently, but in the open field this is the guy to make the connection to. It's rare to see a big man who sinks his hips and cuts the way Patterson does. NFL teams love to throw those quick hitches, slants and bubble screens to a big wideout who can shake the corner off and get 20 yards. I think Patterson's going to be a steep riser in the predraft process. You've got raw talents like Stephen Hill setting the standard where players can get drafted, and Patterson's probably a better open-field runner than Hill.

Lol. I'm glad I'm getting a little bit of love from you. I think Stephen Hill is more of a receiver than Patterson. Patterson just is so intriguing to me because he is a straight playmaker similar to Percy Harvin. If you go back to his Juco tape he was doing the exact same stuff. Taking reverses to the crib, lining up in the backfield all kind of crazy stuff. I think what separates him is his field vision, lot's of guys are fast, but the ones that have that field vision and don't take wasted steps are the ones that become big time play makers in the league. Another guy in college that shows this is Stefon Diggs. Diggs is only a freshman, but he shows that when he has the rock in his hands it's about to get ugly.

Getting my first look at Patterson today, he's much more of an athlete than a wide receiver right now but I'm guessing he's going to absolutely test off the charts. With his measurables he'll go top 20 at least.

IDK. I've watched a handful of Vols games this year. Seems like every game I watch Cordarrelle Patterson makes some kind of "wow" play. Right now, I could easily see him late 1st/early second. With a strong possibility to move significantly higher in the coming weeks if he performs during the various workouts and interviews.

He still needs to learn how to get open but he is just ridiculous with the ball in his hands, especially for someone his size.

Run a reverse with him once a game and have him return kicks and he'll make a play for you every week without even catching a pass

He can be lined up and utilized in so many ways. He's basically a bigger Percy Harvin. I'll be shocked if he doesn't end up in the top 15.
