They are going to poo out in the playoffs. age will catch up with them.

As much as I don't want Te'o in the first, I can't see us not taking him.

S/CB/OLB in that order we are desperate for.

Keenan Lewis has been a stud this season. Yeah he gets in trouble by being too aggressive, but is making himself some money this offseason. Ike has rebounded quite well the past three weeks. Cortez played with Cruz well and it's nice to see Curtis Brown play more.

Steelers won't be drafting high enough to get Teo. His stock will have him being a 15ish pick.

As long as Ben is on this team they can beat anyone.

Agree with what has been said, that was a good win.

The offense is really starting to click right now, and what our RBs have been able to do recently is beyond me. After a dismal start (running game wise) it seems we've turned things around. I want to see this happen consistently before I attribute it to bad defense (which, in all honesty, it could be), but I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Ben has been absolutely fantastic this year, probably the best he's ever played. Young money, Heath Miller, heck even the O-line have been pretty good lately. Mike Adams has been surprisingly good at RT, one or two glaring mistakes but he stands his ground more often than not. Starks is solid as always, love Colon's nastiness, and Foster has actually played rather well too. I see no need to rush DeCastro back.

Defensively, it looks like they've finally started to work well with each other. CBs have been good, and I agree with you Hines, Lewis has been beasting compared to how he's played at times. I really like seeing Cortez Allen play, he's very smooth. Timmons looks like the stud from two years ago.

And yeah, despite the fact that the defense has been good as of late, we need an infusion of youth, from both the draft and the guys we've already got. CB position seems pretty set now, IMO, with Allen and Lewis stepping up. Same for DE, we've got Heyward and Hood. McLendon is solid, hopefully Ta'amu turns into a good two down lineman for us. ILB is a big question mark, IMO. Spence looked good but who knows how his freak injury will hamper him in the future. Sylvester has done nothing, and Foote is old.

All in all, good series of games recently, and hopefully they keep this up.

We are going to need a replacement for Harrison, I know right now he is still hampered by injury so he isn't the same. but at his age and the salary cap number he has, no way we keep him.

Safety and OLB are the biggest needs imo. Possibly ILB depending on Spence's recovery and Foote's fountain-of-youth.

Either way it will be a sexier draft than we are used to! Pass rushers and hitters, pre-draft will be fun!!

I can see us resigning Foote to a friendly year or two deal. That way it will get a rookie or Spence up to speed. I'll work on a mock and post it later.

Let me give it another shot ...

1st round - Alex Olgletree - ILB - Georgia - Converted Safety ... In case you didn't know I love converted Safteys
2nd round - Gerald Hodges - OLB - Penn State - Converted Safety ...
3rd round - Baccari Rambo - FS - Georgia - Beast enough said , 1 year behind Clark would do wonders
4th round- Duke Williams - SS - Nevada - Athletic Freak, Good Instincts, closing speed and hitter
5th round - Mallicah Goodman - DE- Clemson ... Why not add a little DE depth? Keisel nearing the end of his career
6th round - Anthony McCloud - DT - FSU ... Hampton finished why not add a little DT depth
7th round - MarQueis Gray - WR - Minnesota ... only kind of WR Steelers are missing is a big guy at 6-4 250 he fits that role... he's raw and played 2 years receiver and then switched to QB now ... WR reverse Pass anybody??

I know Steelers will never draft Ogletree and Rambo because of being suspended in college but hey they took a chance on Adams right??

and no CB because they have 4 good young ones ... Lewis, Cortez, Brown , Van Dyke

Mock:

1) Alec Ogletree LB Georgia
-Can blitz, play coverage, play the run, everything. He is a beast. He is the type of player that the Steelers will love because he can play multiple positions and roles on the defense. His character concerns don't really worry me.

2) Chase Thomas LB Stanford
-While I like Worilds and Carter, I believe none of them will be elite starters. Thomas can be due to him playing the run and rushing the passer extremely well. He might put up only 5-8 sacks a year, but he'd be a valuable player to have on our defense.

3) TJ McDonald S USC
-There have been talks of his stock falling, so I'll leave him here for now. I don't think he'll be here, but if he is, or even later, you have to pick him. He's too perfect for the Steelers defense.

4) Marquess Wilson WR Washington State
-A big WR with a nice catch radius. He'll have to answer questions regarding why he quit the program, but if he is here in the fourth round, the Steelers NEED to get him because his upside and playmaking ability is too high. It looks like the Steelers won't be signing Mike Wallace(at least right now) so the team could look for a replacement.

5) Michael Williams TE Alabama
-Not a great pass catcher, but a very good run blocker. He'll be in short yardage and goal line situations and could end up getting some key catches in the offense. I also like Jake Stoneburner here as well.

6) Johnny Adams CB Michigan State
-Teams cannot have enough corners. While he isn't big and will have trouble with bigger WRs, he plays big and is a sticky cover guy. I think he's a guy who could match up with all the smaller WRs in the slot.

7) Sean Renfree QB Duke
-We need a back up quarterback groomed. Renfree is a typical drop back guy.

I didn't select any OLman or DLman because I feel we can branch out and sign a FA or two on those positions. Also, there are quite of UDFA that could be available who I like quite a bit.

Draft overviews since 2009:

2009

1) Ziggy Hood DL Missouri
-Up and down type of player with too many downs in his game. I don't think he's a fit in our 34 as a 5-tech. I'd like to see him moved on from, but the dude is talented.

3a) Kraig Urbik G Wisconsin
-Loved the pick coming out. I finally thought that the team found a top notch starting guard for our offense. He disappointed and got cut. A decent starter for Buffalo.

3b) Mike Wallace WR Ole Miss
-The best deep threat in the NFL. Can score at any moment. His hands have been suspect this year, and that's surprising, but overall, he has been a good player for the Steelers. Question is, will he stay or go?

3c) Keenan Lewis CB Oregon State
-Raw coming out and raw for his first couple seasons in the NFL. Started to turn into the player the Steelers envisioned late last year and has been a really good player this year. Made money for his play and I hope the Steelers keep him and he keeps improving.

5a) Joe Burnett CB Central Florida
-Loved him. Thought he would be a very good nickle and dime corner for us, who also helps in the return game. He lasted one season. His most memorable play was when he dropped an easy interception that would have won the game against Oakland his rookie year.

5b) Frank Summers RB/FB UNLV
-I know Coach Kirby loved him. He was suppose to solve our short distance running woes and potentially be our lead fullback. He sucked. Wasn't very happy with this pick, but expected it.

6) Ra'Shonn Harris DE Oregon
-Had a huge potential, but not a good motor. Always stuck around for a few years, then was let go.

7a) AQ Shipley C Penn State
-The local boy was a fan favorite when he got drafted. I was a huge fan and was happy as well. The fact remained that he had short arms and was a long shot at best to even crack the roster. He got cut and is now floating around the league.

7b) David Johnson TE/FB Arkansas State
-Underrated blocking specialist. He is just a guy though and Will Johnson is playing better than David Johnson has in his short career. Got hurt this training camp and now will look for work in the offseason.

Notable Undrafted Free Agents:

Ramon Foster OL- Used as depth for the first couple years and has started a lot of games the past two. Has settled in nicely for the Steelers this year and could either get a huge payday or come back for the Steelers as depth next year.

Steve McClendon- Floated around the PS as a 280 pound NT in the mold of Chris Hoke. Now is a contender for the starting NT job at 325 pounds. I really hope the coaches give him more snaps because it seems like he's always in the backfield making plays when he is in and Hampton isn't good anymore.

Isaac Redman- Steeler fans love him. I think he's just a guy. Always came up big when we need him, but still the third best RB on this ball club.

Overall:

One stud, and a couple of unknowns, this class draft class was very average. The misses of Urbik, Burnett, and the late rounders makes this class look bad. Hood, Wallace, and Lewis are the ones who determine if this class is a success or a fail. Right now I'd say somewhere in between. Foster, McClendon, and Redman make this group somewhat better.

Grade: C

2010

1) Maurkice Pouncey C Florida
-One of the better centers in the league. Will be on our line for many, many years. No brainer.

2) Jason Worilds OLB Virginia Tech
-I wanted Sean Lee so bad here, but Worilds is a guy I liked after watching him more. He hasn't turned out the way I wanted him to due to injuries, but he's performed decent when called upon and is a good special teams player.

3) Emmanuel Sanders WR SMU
-Also hurt by injuries, he's starting to show up now that he's healthy this year. A great route runner who seems to always make a big play when the ball is in his hands. I think he'll be a great slot guy.

4) Thaddeus Gibson OLB Ohio State
-I LOVED him. I thought he was going to be better than Worilds. It is just he never developed into a OLB in our scheme and never really had a position anywhere else. A disappointment.

5a) Chris Scott OL Tennessee
-I asked myself who on this pick. Able to play both guard and tackle, he couldn't stay healthy. Had a chance to win the RG spot last season and failed to do so. Got cut before this season.

5b) Crezdon Butler CB Clemson
-A colorful personality and had nice size and speed for the position, but never played up to it. An injury killed his chances with the Steelers and has been floating back and forth with the Cardinals.

5c) Stevenson Sylvester LB Utah
-Had a great Jr year in college and a disappointing Sr season. I loved his tape and thought he could develop into a starter for us. Well, he has been injured and hasn't developed like we had hoped. I could see his Steeler days numbered next season unless he really takes off.

6a) Jonathan Dwyer RB Georgia Tech
-Once a projected early pick, fell to the sixth because of weight and conditioning issues. Spent most of his rookie season inactive while he tried to get in shape, but made a few plays in his limited opportunities. Now in shape and healthy, he's been running like the back we saw in college. Could contend to be the workhorse back next season if/when Mendenhall leaves.

6b) Antonio Brown WR Central Michigan
-The other WR in our class was the one who broke out. Came up big in both the game against Baltimore and the Jets in the playoffs. His second season proved to be his coming out party with over 1000 yards receiving and big plays on returns. Was rewarded with a big contract in the offseason.

7) Doug Worthington DL Ohio State
-Just a guy. Was cut in training camp.

Notable Undrafted Free Agents:

Damon Cromartie-Smith-He floats back and forth from the active roster to the practice squad, but has provided a nice fixture on special teams when he has played.

Overall:

Pouncey, Brown, Sanders, and Dwyer have proved to be hits for the Steelers. Worilds and Sylvester still have potential to make an impact, but have work to do. At the very least, those two provide nice depth. 6 of the 10 players drafted are either making an impact or still on the team.

Grade: A

2011

1) Cameron Heyward DE Ohio State
-I was either choosing Heyward or Aaron Williams with this pick. Glad it is Heyward. He's provided some nice depth on our DL and I think he should be starting over Hood. He fits the defense like a glove.

2) Marcus Gilbert OT Florida
-Started most of the season at RT. Was the starter at RT to start the season before he got hurt. With the emergence of Mike Adams, he may be put to the blindside going forward.

3) Curtis Brown CB Texas
-While he hasn't played much defense(starting to now, however) he has been a demon on special teams. I like his athleticism and ball skills and believe his role will only grow.

4) Cortez Allen CB The Citadel
-Raw, but great potential. Has great size and speed. Injured early in his rookie season, but started to come on. Played well against Rob Gronkowski. Was playing extremely well in this year's camp and preseason and narrowly missed out on the starting job. Love the young potential we have at corner.

5) Chris Carter OLB Fresno State
-He fell because he didn't have a position. I think he's better than Worilds and should be stay healthy and get stronger, I think he can be a nice starter for the Steelers. Needs to learn to play the run better, though.

6) Keith Williams G Nebraska
-Was suppose to provide depth along the OL, but was cut during training camp.

7) Baron Batch RB Texas Tech
-Nice third down guy to have, but with Mendenhall, Dwyer, Redman, and Rainey, his role could decrease soon.

Notable Undrafted Free Agents:

Weslye Saunders-First round talent, but suspect character and work ethic. Made the team as a rookie and had big potential until a suspension got him released from the team. He is now in Indianapolis and I still love his potential.

John Clay-The big back won a practice squad spot and even got a TD on his first career carry. Got injured in camp and got released.

Overview:

It's tough to put a grade on this class because Heyward, Gilbert, Allen, Brown, and Carter are still developing. I'll grade based on potential.

Grade: B

2012

1) David Decastro G Stanford
-Every Steeler fan was pumped when he fell to 24. He was a no brainer. Got injured in the second preseason game and has not returned yet. I'm not worried yet. He will give the Steelers their best G prospect since Alan Faneca. Super excited about Decastro.

2) Mike Adams OT Ohio State
-Super talented kid, but couldn't stay out of trouble in Columbus. Failed a drug test and lied about it, which got him kicked off the Steelers draft board. Set up a meeting with the team and smoothed the air. He gives the team big time talent, but inconsistencies. Started out at LT, but failed to win the job. Has found a niche at RT and seems to be our starter in the long run there. Has gotten better each game IMO.

3) Sean Spence LB Miami
-Scratched my head at first with this pick because I felt he did not fit our scheme. The more and more I read about him, the more I liked. I loved the way he flew around the field and made plays. A bad knee injury ruined his rookie season, but I expect and hope he comes back strong next year to provide our defense with his playmaking ability.

4) Alameda Ta'Amu NT Washington
-Traded up for him. Loved the pick. Thought he was a second day pick, but fell due to him being inconsistent. Got in trouble with the law a month ago and now his Steelers future is in jeopardy. Steelers showed faith in him when he got arrested, but it can change if the legal system comes down on him. Didn't stand out from what I read.

5) Chris Rainey RB/WR/KR Florida
-Playmaker. All that needs to be said about him. He's starting to make big plays every week now and is exciting to watch.

7a) Toney Clemons WR Colorado
-The local kid was expected to be the 5th WR, but the case of drops hurt his chances. He's now on the PS and I believe his arrow goes up because his size, speed, and playmaking ability will be wanted and used in the future. Don't sleep on this kid.

7b) David Paulson TE Oregon
-The coaches love this kid and he is now the second TE on the depth chart. I expect you'll see more targets going his way.

7c) Terrance Frederick CB Texas A&M
-One of my favorite late round corners this past draft season failed to impress. Cut in training camp.

7d) Kelvin Beachum OL SMU
-I was surprised he made the team this year, but the coaches obviously love his smarts and potential.

Notable Undrafted Free Agents:

Robert Golden-Made the team as the fifth S and has not been kicked off the roster yet. Coaches seem to love his potential, as do I. Keep your eye on this kid. I can see him starting for us in the very near future.

Adrian Robinson-A "one-trick pony" does his one trick very well. I can't wait to see him if he puts it all together. He could be our next great UDFA signing. I know that's being a tad optimistic, though.

Will Johnson- I'll include him here since he's technically a rookie since he wasn't picked up or drafted after his college days. He's been a very good FB for this team and was a nice find by Tomlin and Colbert.

Drew Butler- Won the punters job by default, but hasn't done anything to not win and keep the job. He has a great leg.

Overview:

Incomplete I think since Decastro, Spence, and others haven't seen the field. I'll grade based on potential.

Grade: A

The past three drafts have been great for our team by getting younger and better. It is a great sign to come.

Shame to lose that. Defense and run game looked great. I think they got away from the game plan too much. Can't be possible that the plan was to let Lefty throw 35+ times, especially hurt.

I think the 6 point lead the Ravens had scared them into passing. As irrational as that sounds.

I like Brian Hoyer. I hope he stays our semi long term back up.

Thanksgiving mock

1) CJ Mosley LB Alabama*
-Mosley has everything you want in a starting middle linebacker. I believe he will come right in and start as a rookie.

2) TJ McDonald S USC
-Inconsistent this year, but a great talent. Can play both S spots and play both the run and pass effectively. The Steelers need a Polamalu replacement since he is just about done.

3) Brandon Jenkins OLB Florida State
-Falls due to his injury and I believe he will be a steal right here.

4) Denard Robinson WR Michigan
-I don't love Robinson, but I believe he'll be an exciting playmaker at the NFL level. He'll have to move to WR, and I believe if he knows how to catch and runs solid routes, he can be a nice replacement for Mike Wallace.

5) Ryan Otten TE San Jose State
-Not much of a blocker, but a big receiving threat who can be deadly down the seam.

6) Tyrann Mathieu CB
-He has weed problems and I have a feeling that might not change, but for a sixth round pick, I'm willing to give a chance on this playmaker and see if he changes.

7) Michael Dyer RB
-Same with Mathieu, he has character concerns, but you cannot deny this kid's talent. He keeps his head on straight and the Steelers found a gem.

We won't take Mathieu. But someone will and they'll get a player.

He'll go higher than that too. He's way too talented to not have a team take a chance on him.

Don't like that mock honestly ... Don't like Mcdonald or Robinson and don't think we need a TE

1st - Baccari Rambo - Georgia - FS
a beast ... some say over rated I say they're crazy ... his production speaks for its self

2nd - Gearld Hodges - Penn State - OLB
is a tackling machiene and move inside we'll have the best coverage ILBs in the league

3rd - Sean Porter - Texas A&M - OLB -
Thanks A&M for moving to a 4-3 and him slipping this far

4th - Phillip Thomas - Fresno State- SS -
Him and Rambo will be a play making Safety tandom for years

5th - Arby Jones - Georgia - DE
Hood isn't the answer and Jones Slips cause of injury, 6'3 308lbs

6th - Josh Johnson - Purdue - CB
Depth

7th - Melvin White - LA Lafayette- CB
Depth

I feel as if the first 5 picks will be starters for a long time on this team...

Yes, he filled in very nicely when Woodley went out. Had his best game as a pro. I still hold out hope, but the kid has got to stay healthy to be able to earn a starting job.

Rolando McClain will apparently be released by the Raiders.

I know he's had some issues since he entered the NFL, but I'd like it if the team looked at him. I loved him as a prospect.
