Suh's attitude and off-field problems have been a surprise. But Schwartz isn't a good leader long-term and I think Suh's lack of effectiveness (just like the other good players on that team that aren't producing consistently) is a symptom of that.
Schwartz to me is very like Rex Ryan. He is a helluva defensive coordinator and his personality gets his guys fired up and willing to go extra for him. However that isn't always the best method as a head coach. There has to be a guy who hands down discipline for any transgression. That may not make him a popular guy all the time, and God knows we hear enough of how guys love to play for these types of coaches, however if not nipped in the bud players go further and further until it becomes a liability.
