Yes but we're also on the up there. Top 10 class last year so we should make the dance next year when everyone is a JR.

What Bill O'Brien has done with that PSU offense is pretty astounding. Basically taking the same players as last year and turning them into a fine tuned machine. I think PSU is gonna be cranking out some legit NFL QB prospects in the future. PSU fans should be excited and the NCAA should be ashamed that they banned PSU football from being able to compete in postseason bowls for the next few years.

weve had big wins at home. The RAC is a pretty tough place to play (most BE coaches have said they hated playing us at home, we even got Calhoun to flip us off last year) We're in the rise with Mike Rice though.
But yeah, we're not that good now. Bright future though

The only thing NCAA should feel shame about is if after the ban PSU is a title contender. There will be many people calling for them to have taken football away totally for a couple years.

Yea and its real misguided angst. Sandusky is in jail, Paterno is in the ground and pretty much the whole PSU staff has been blown up. The university is responsible - not the football team and those head administrators are going to be facing the judicial system.

The university makes a gazillion dollars from football. It funded a good portion of that campus, either indirectly or directly. The only way to punish such abhorrent institutional behavior was to sanction and bowl ban them to try and give them punitive financial pain. It really wont, however.
They are bringing $25M+ from the B1G, along with a full stadium, etc...
Not much punishment at the end of the day, IMO. More of an annoyance.
If I were a PSU fan, after seeing how much better PSU is under Bill O'Brien, I would be even more pissed off at how much Paterno ****** PSU over. All of the evil Sandusky stuff + ruining great talent with terrible coaching is just bad stuff.

I'm pretty sure that Penn State isn't getting a full cut of the tv money. I know they aren't getting a dime of the bowl game money.
But yeah, Paterno was a comically bad coach. Take away all of the rape stuff and he was still the equivalent of the dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's.
Penn State fans are notoriously delusional, but nothing was funnier than listening to them argue that Paterno was still "coaching"

Yea, Paterno was definitely a figurehead for years and the offense was underperforming for a long time due to his buddy (Galen Hall) and son calling the shots. No tears were shed when O'Brien decided not to retain a single offensive coach and the only offensive coach we had that even belonged/deserved to get another job in coaching was McQueary and...well...yea...we all know that isn't happening.

There's no way he can be considered a coach for the last few years. Just a spectator with field passes. He didn't have any better guess as to what was gonna happen next than you or I did watching the game.

I have no problem with them taking money away from the university - the civil suits are going to hit PSU's bankroll pretty hard. That is fine and they should have to pay as an institution. It was a failure at that level. Not at the football level. All the football people responsible for this to happen are gone from PSU.

Sorry for being negative. I'm just impressed with O'Brien and disgusted with the old execs and Paterno's regime.

Agreed. I would be sad if O'Brien left for the NFL.

Yes. The B1G needs better coaching. Otherwise the big boys are just going to continue to steamroll the conference. There is no reason that the bottom tiered schools should be so bad.

It was on an OSU forum. I'm not trying to troll with it. I just hope that isn't the norm. Things can get ugly at OSU, UM, UW, and PSU during big games. OSU has calmed down a lot since the UT game up in Columbus. The fan base was shamed quite a bit with how rotten they treated UT fans. Normal people started policing the cretins more than they used to.
Hopefully Rutgers isn't like that article projects.
BTW, here are the financial projections. Holy **** you guys just won the lottery!
$ 45M/year in 2019.

Believe me it's not the norm and that small group took a ton of crap from people here.
Yes that is why we wanted to get out of the BE. The finances alone are just incredible. I can't wait for the official press conference.

The Rutgers and Maryland professors have to be giddy about joining the CIC.
Quote:
Pervasiveness and influence
CIC universities confer, on average, 15% of all Ph.D. degrees awarded annually in the United States.
CIC members engage in $8 billion in funded research, receiving some 12 percent of the total federal research funds awarded annually (18 percent of the National Science Foundation total, and 15.7 percent of the USDA total).
Collectively, CIC members employ more than 38,000 full-time faculty members and enroll approximately 400,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
CIC member libraries own more book volumes (more than 80 million volumes) than the 10 campuses of the University of California system (34 million) and the Ivy League (64 million).

I think Delaney mentioned "demographics" about 10 times more than he mentioned athletics. The Maryland president mentioned money in some fashion at least 10 times.
Just in case anyone was still fuzzy as to why this was done.

Scotty! I wish I was still in school so you could come visit for Rutgers first game in IC. Oh well, when we meet in Indianapolis one year we can hang out!

It's no surprise, but it appears that a 9-game conference schedule is all but inevitable.
Good.

For me, that is the only positive thing about conference expansion, more conference games and fewer OOC games against nobodies.
