Rhodes shut down Michael Floyd the previous year.
Logan Ryan has caught my attention, if he stays for his senior year he will probably be the first CB taken in 2014. As is stands right now he's a 2nd round guy. Theres the obvious Rutgers connection, think he would be great value if he comes out.

Hm haven't watched much of Ryan. The Rutgers connection is valid but it's the big east. Hard to project there.

Updated Bucs Draft: Notable Signings:

Resign:
-DE Michael Bennett
-WR Tiquan Underwood
-T Demar Dotson
-DT Roy Miller
Retire:
-S Ronde Barber

Salary Cap Cut:
-CB Eric Wright.
FA:
- NT Terrance Knighton: Need that big-bodied DT next to McCoy and continue to build strong depth along the line.
-CB Mike Jenkins: Physcial CB who comes back home and replaces Eric Wright.

Draft:
1st Round: CB Xavier Rhodes Florida State

- Physical CB who has been avoided by opposing QBs this year and shut down his side of the field. Something Tampa can use.

2nd Round: Zach Ertz TE Stanford:
- With Clark up there in age, Ertz can be the big redzone target Freeman needs. Not too shabby to continue improving this offense that ranks 3rd in the NFL.

3rd Round: John Simon DE Ohio State
- Reminds me a lot of Jared Allen. Relentless motor and physical strength. Just keep adding to the Dline.

4th Round: Phillip Thomas S Fresno State:
- He's been a ball hawk this year, something this defense can use.

4th Round Via New England: Ricky Wagner T Wisconsin
- Physical and strong blocker. Struggliing a bit due to injuries and new faces right now on the line, but has played better. Could be a long term replacement for Penn/Dotson. right now, great depth.

5th Round: Markus Wheaton WR Oregon State:
- this is a pick I'd love. great value as he adds Special teams/Return ability and could be an asset as a slot WR.

6th Round: Michael Zordich RB Penn State
- Bill O'Brien has transformed him into a physical RB who pummels defenders. Could be that Mike Allstott type back we need.

7th Round: Matt Steinkewitch C Penn State:
- Add some depth behind Zuttah, as Larsen has filled in nicely, but Zuttah may not be a true center. Steikewitch is a physical lineman and true center that can back up for now, but eventually replace Zuttah.

If we keep winning and are picking in the mid 20's I would love Tavon Austin.

Slot WR / KR, PR / RB like ( Cobb & Harvin )

We are a better slot WR and TE of becoming a power house in offense for years to come. We're very good now but I'm talking top 3 good.

We have a tough little stretch coming up with ATL twice, NO, and @ Denver but at the least I see us finishing 9-7 barring injury. Where does that put us? In the 15's -20's range?

Also I finally saw some highlights of Dion Jordan, I like what I see so far but the I noticed he is quite light to be so tall. I love his 1st step, plus with his long arms if coached right could equal a lot of forced fumbles. He is a player I would like to add to our team with our rotation of ends, maybe do as the Giants do on their ACE package with 4 DE's on passing down moving Clayborn and Bennet inside.

I can see us trading back again to get more picks and then drafting BPA on the defensive side depending on where we draft at.

I say this weekends game against ATL is a playoff game. If we lose this weekend at home then have to go to Denver to face Manning with our 32nd pass D we could drop two in a row.

Put it this way. He's not THAT tall... and considering the number of DEs we have, I'm pretty sure Jordan would be used like Von Miller and Kiwanuka. He would be used as a Sam LB on run downs and move to DE on nickel downs. He's not too light to play LB and not too light to be a pass rush specialist. In this scenario he would be a full-time player... not a full-time LB or DE... but on the field 100% of the time.

John Simon, DE Ohio State:
- This dude is just a pure football player. He's got that "freak" attitude with a non-stop motor and very good strength. To me, watching him on the field, he's similar to Jared Allen.

At 6'2 260's Lbs, he's labeled as a "tweener." Right now, in the 2nd-3rd round range. We have a 4th to dangle, so I think we can get him in the 2nd round? He's become one of my favorite prospects as of late.

Margus Hunt looked like he could move well for a big dude. I'm not sure if he's what we're looking for. Might get a look in the 3rd?

We need an elite pass rusher but have garbage at CB. Hopefully Dom can pull through and get some more talent.

Welp fellow buc fans , we are officially off the hook for Eric Wrights contract.

https://mobile.twitter.com/AdamSchef...16728408915969

Because he was suspended Eric Wright violated his contract and his guaranteed money is voided for next year.

Not only that, but all the money he forfeits from those 4 games season (over $1 million) doesn't count against the cap this year, meaning the team can carry it over next season (along with the rest of the unspent cap space) if they choose to do so (which they should).

How is he similar to Jared Allen? Allen has a long 6'6" frame and uses his long arms to his advantage. Simon MIGHT be 6'2. If you want to compare him to somebody, compare him to a shorter guy, Dumervil, though he is more in line of the size of Freeney (without the burst). What he reminds me more than anything is a typical Pittsburgh Steelers 3-4 rush OLB. Harrision, Woodley, etc. I don't see any comparison to Allen other than motor.

Actually, he looks better in space than he does over the TE. On some downs he goes out and play the slot CB and looks fluid out there. Moves well, changes direction, reroutes and redirects.

If the Bucs grab a DE at any point, I think they need to get out of the mold of power rushers and find a guy that is more of a fast twitch edge rusher. A guy that can beat the OT with his first step and turn the corner. We;ve already got guys that can push the pocket, but pushing the pocket isn't nearly as effective if you don't have a guy that forces a QB to step up into the pocket.

I'm comparing them as football players not height.

Simon has that freakish attitude and motor similar to Jared Allen. Quite frankly they're playing styles are similar. Not concerned about their height.

Yep. Agree with you on that one. I was always curious as the size and power of Adrian Clayborn , wonder if he's better off inside next to McCoy

Not sure about that, I wonder how is condition on his right arm would limit him inside. To me, Clayborn just isn't a typical RDE. He's basically a RDE only that plays like a base LDE. A guy like your SLB/RDE Dion Jordan would be a huge boost for the defense if he shows he can hit that edge and run the arc that Clayborn can't and be the pass rushing RDE and perhaps Clayborn plays 1st and 2nd downs at RDE and moves to DT or the bench on 3rd down.

While I do agree that we could use another pass rusher, I'd like to see what this line can do with a pass rush philosophy that isn't completely ********.

Sheridan's idea of pass rushing is: Stunt, stunt, stunt, stunt, stunt, stunt... and then let's catch them off guard with a stunt.

Hell, McCoy even admitted to the media after a game earlier this season that he and the other linemen told Sheridan that the stunts aren't working and that he needs dial it back a bit. And he's right... We could have Reggie White and he wouldn't look very good with all the stupid stunting this defensive line is forced to do.
