the afc west has always sucked. but we're not shoved down the collective throat of everyone watching football as the 'premier football conference in the nfl' in spite of that not having been remotely true in nearly 15 years.

I've been thinking about this, it's only hypothetical and just wondering what you all would think. What if Andy Reid were fired the same year as Mike Singletary, and Harbaugh took the Eagles gig over the 49ers. How good/bad/different from what they are now do you think the Eagles would be? The Niners were 6-10 but with an abundance of talent in the last year of Singletary. Harbaugh came in with a solid draft class of Aldon Smith, CK, and Chris Culliver as their first three picks.
The Eagles on the other hand had the aforementioned "Dream Team" according to Vince Young, and had relatively equal talent level (minus the offensive line) as the Niners did. Coaching has obviously improved the Niners to Super Bowl contenders in both seasons of Harbaugh's coaching stint. But I just want to know what the Eagles, or what you think they would be like, if Harbaugh were to take them over because of all the talent they had.
I know you can never really know with all of the "what-ifs" but this is just a hypothetical question that I want to know if the difference in coaching would've made the Eagles Super Bowl bound.

*shrug* the chiefs/steelers did just as well as the eagles/saints this year (as did den/sd). i don't buy that playing two terrible teams on monday night will really be any different, although it's the SNF matchup that i really think is a joke.

Umm ok. I didn't know 7-4 was so awful.
Anyway the Eagles have released Jason Babin. I wonder where he goes.

How come there hasn't been any flex scheduling this year?

Such an overrated player. At least to the people I have the misfortune of speaking to.

I agree but he should be able to help for someone as a situational pass rusher. The only problem is he hasn't really had any success outside of the Washburn scheme so I don't know where he'd be a good fit.

did you watch yourselves against cinci, dallas or philly? final record is necessarily indicative of anything (see: denver broncos making the playoffs, last year).
either way, it's like watching big 10 basketball. until you decide to play like you did sunday, watching two nfc east teams play each other is nearly unwatchable football.

I think he will clear waivers because of his salary, then some contender will take him. Most obvious places to me are Tampa Bay, New England, Baltimore, Atlanta and GB.
I don't think NE, Baltimore or GB will get him though just based on scheme and philosophy. I don't see a team who isn't in contention getting him

Why not flex the bucs/broncos to Sunday night? Probably the best option for flex.

I just think terrible was probably the wrong word. We all know the Giants MO at this point so it's not worth rehashing. Not really a big deal either way as I'll continue to take my SB's while being terrible before December even when we have at worst a .500 record.
As for the NFC East being in primetime this much, I do agree it's old hat. You're smart enough to know why it continues to happen though.

Wasn't Babin on pretty much everyone's top 5 DE list going into the year....yeah...
After his 18 sack season he started publicly ripping into the Seahawks for not giving him a chance, apparently not realizing that the entire coaching staff and front office had changed in Seattle. Carroll probably would have loved to have him for the LEO role.

Playing Jacksonville the week after our season ended. Can't wait.
At least Mario Williams is looking legit since that wrist procedure. 7 sacks in his last 6 games. His 8.5 on the year has only been bested five times since Bruce Smith left. Dareus is also looking very good, lately, as the line and defense is really solidifying.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
49ers on verge of a five-year contract extension with LB NaVorro Bowman that will tie him to SF through the 2018. Deal done within 24 hours.
