Temple was an original football member in the Big East.
UConn was not, they were D1-AA/FCS when the Big East added football.

Louisville academics suck. It was basically a commuter college until a decade or so ago. Never going to happen.

The idea that Cincinnatti helps bring Ohio recruiting for the rest of the ACC is pretty funny, however. They have a hard time recruiting Ohio themselves.

only AAU memebers are going into big 10. so L'ville it out. But I think they have a place for them in the big 12.

So that leaves Cincy and UConn before Big East football is officially dead.

I wonder if Maryland and Rutgers could get into B1G for next year now?

This is probably for the best for Connecticut anyway. Just going back to being a basketball school.

Ivan Maisel had a really interesting (and obvious) observation:
Despite all of the shifting, there has been almost no fundamental change in college football. In 2005 (prior to the Miami, Vtech, BC jump to the ACC) there were 63 football programs in the 6 BCS conferences.
Now? There are 64 football programs in 5 conferences. The only changes in composition are Utah, TCU, and Louisville joining the big boys, and Temple and Connecticut being left behind (and even in that case Connecticut had just added FBS football, and Temple was on the verge of getting demoted).
Basically, the Big East was swallowed up by the other leagues, and a few other teams shifted allegiances (mostly to the benefit of the SEC and the B1G)

That's what I meant. That the WAC doesn't play football.

FAU could have been a better pick for the Big East than Tulane.
Is there even a Sun Belt conference anymore, or has it turned into the FCS-FBS bridge?

I think the ACC as a football conference just got squashed.
The Big12 somehow survived after looking all but dead a few years ago.
FSU + Clemson to the Big12 is my guess.
Miami + VT to SEC.
GT + UNC to B1G.
Dunno where that puts the Pac12. They may just stay at 12 for the duration. Dunno what teams would makes sense anywhere west of the mississippi for them to add.
