It's easy to get killed on bull rushes when you're left off balance because the guy across from you is killing you around the edge. We know power isn't the issue with him. I think he'll make a starting caliber guard (which is still a huge disappointment, but whatever salvages him...).
Also, as far as crappy Bears linemen go, I'm a fan of Edwin Williams. Lance Louis was by far our best lineman, but I don't expect the injury to cripple the line much more than it was already crippled.

He's locked in through 2014 and in theory it locks down the DE position for the near future with Babin, Mincey, Branch, and the other small school scrubs they have (Lane, some other guys....whatever).
In actuality, I think he's way overrated. I would have liked the Bears to get him, but not for the money he's making.

Having watched Chilo Rachal and Adam Snyder closely as 49ers, I tend to agree that terrible guards can make your tackles look worse than they are.

Former Bama LB Rolando McClain no longer with OAK. He writes: I'm gonna weigh my options. Looking forward to playing for an actual 'team'.

No one is going to touch him on waivers either, because his contract is still from the pre-rookie salary structure days.

Ugh, I remember when I wanted him on the Giants... this is why Jerry Reese has the job and I don't.
Was it because he was that bad? I thought he was solid... or is this partly resulting from him being a nut job?

Not gonna act like I saw him play much but I thought they were happy with his play at one point. Or maybe the off field stuff was too much for average play.

Remember when Oakland picked Rolando McClain and people acted like Al Davis finally made a good pick even though it made just as little sense as any of the other picks he'd made over the past decade? And that, in hindsight, the dHb pick was significantly better? AND that, the rumored Mike Iupati pick that people were rolling their eyes about would have been significantly better than both of those picks?

We may take a looksie at McClain, our LB corps has been decimated with injuries. We're now starting Ernie Sims and that dude was playing xbox on his couch a few weeks ago.

He is exactly what has been wrong with the Raiders' defense in that they will get stuffs on 2 plays in a row then give up a 70 run to a guy who has never had a run over 25 yards.
Put him on a more disciplined defensive team and he will be a stud. If he goes somewhere like Baltimore--watch out. I really frustrated to see the Raiders giving up on him, but it's equally frustrating watching a defense give up huge plays constantly.

Just an update on the McClain situation--nothing is official yet. No move can be made officially until Thursday.
Apparently this was spurred by a very heated exchange between McClain and Coach Dennis Allen early in the morning practice--an argument which resulted in McClain being kicked off the field.
Based off everything I'm hearing right now, it seems likely the "release" will become official tomorrow, but there is a possibility something could be worked out and the Raiders hand out a suspension or some other punishment.
Again, I still expect McClain will be released tomorrow.

Also, multiple Raider sources confirm the Raiders did NOT actually place a claim on the waiver wire for Babin.

I was the biggest McClain fan in existence before that draft. Sucks that he went to Oakland, and it sucks he is being released, but I think he'll have a team before too long.
Hell, I'd still take him in KC. He's an upgrade over Belcher for sure.
