Easy to say in hindsight. The odds of making a 52 yard field goal with an inconsistent kicker vs the odds of converting that 4th, especially down 7, makes going for it a no brainer in my mind.

This kind of thinking needs to die in the 2012 NFL. Teams overkick and overpunt on third and short situations inside the other teams zone, it's a thing that smarter teams need to start realizing. In today's NFL, there is no reason to ever kick a field goal in that situation, barring a potential game winner or being the Browns.

Drew Brees' TD streak was stupid in the first place. There, I said it.

No coach is ever going to start doing that regularly though. I fully agree that is what the should do in a perfect world, but they're not.
It's the same reason they go to the prevent late in games. If they drop 8 guys into coverage and the opposing team moves the ball easily, it's the players fault. If the coach calls for pressure and man coverage, and they give up a big play, it's on the coach for poor playcalling.
NFL coaches are some of the most conservative minded people you will ever see.

Well, it wasn't an easy accomplishment.

The first coach that actually starts to embrace a strategy where they don't do these things, they will see a fair amount of success. It will happen soon enough, it has to.

And Lance Moore. It's going to be a rough week for the Saints fanbase. People will ask what is wrong with Brees and wonder if the Bountygate scandal was too much. And I can't wait for the media and their smartasses to say something along the lines of "So, how did that 'us against the world' mentality work out for you now?" when it was the media in the first place that essentially pushed that label on the franchise. The media needs a story though, so whatever.

What a terrible way to go down. Weird, Drew Brees threw five touchdown passes last week.

I'm not even watching the game. Why are you retaliating seriously to my obvious bait?

Oh man, I couldn't help but laugh while Bush was racing down the sideline and it was all quiet in the Georgia Dome.

I mean was his forward progress not stopped? At what point do you determine that?
