So twitter is telling me because of how badly Nebraska is getting killed right now Northern Illinois might have a chance at the top 16? Is this true?

I doubt Nebraska drops below 16, but Texas probably will. Northern or Boise will have to jump Texas, Michigan, and UCLA, which is possible.

If he didn't hit him in the head I wouldn't have cared one bit and it would have been Murray's fault for not paying attention. But that was some pretty vicious helmet to helmet contact.

The absolute worst part about that is that it swung points in favor of Alabama and there was a ref not even five yards away staring at that exact direction. That was awful.

Clearly a malicious hit meant to hurt Murray. He should definitely be suspended the National Championship.
They keep looking at rule changes to make the game safer. With how violent the game is you certainly cannot afford to let people intentionally injure other teams players. And that's exactly what happened right there.

As a level headed Bama fan, I believe it was unnecessary roughness but he wasn't defenseless and he wasn't a qb anymore. But the "tipped" pass that led to the blocked fg had more impact on the game. It was at least a 10 point swing IMO.

Looks like NIU won't make it, as the computers are rightfully killing them for not beating anyone. Hard to make a great case for them when their best win is Kent State and they lost to Iowa.

Everything I've seen is the following projection:
Orange: Florida State vs Louisville
Sugar: Oklahoma vs Florida
Fiesta: Oregon vs Kansas State
Rose: Stanford vs Wisconsin
Even BCS Guru who has been pretty spot on has NIU almost making it but sitting at #17.

^^^ What he said. It will be close, but NIU is going to have to be far ahead of Nebraska or UCLA in the polls to make up for getting killed in the computer polls.

The Orange Bowl is going to suck. Looking forward to the Fiesta and Rose Bowls. Those are great matchups to go along with an intriguing BCS Nat'l Championship

I think Louisville vs. Florida State would be a great game. Very high scoring.

No such thing.
On that hit, if that was the NFL, that would have been a 15-yard penalty, 100K fine, and a suspension. The play was pretty much over, Murray isn't even in the play, he is basically walking. The Bama player launches himself helmet first into a blindside hit to the helmet. He should 100% be suspended. That is as cheap and dirty hit as you'll see.

He caught him with a good deal of his shoulder too....get over yourself. I've read some NFL people saying on twitter that it was legal? I bet if that had happened to McCarron nobody on here would give a damn at all.

U mad bro?
Like I said, he was on defense. I wasn't aware that if you are walking that you are immune from being clobbered. The play wasn't over but it was a blow to the head.

QB WALKING towards his sideline and getting launched into by a defensive player is the definition of unnecessary roughness and a cheap shot. Just because you are a fan doesn't mean you need to be a senseless homer.
Dial has the benefit of playing in the SEC and I highly doubt they would make a move to weaken their standing going into the national championship. Had 'Bama of lost I think he would have been suspended but not with them headed for the NC.
Also if you're going to troll at least do it properly. The "umad" meme needs at least a picture and additionally trolling following it. Try harder.

UPDATE: Sagarin's ratings came out. UCLA was one spot lower than projected, so for now, Northern Illinois is listed 16th. That's how close this is. We'll have a better idea if that move is permanent when the Coaches Poll comes out.
Current math based on posted computer projections: NIU needs to be the mathematical equivalent of 227 points ahead in the Harris poll and 120 points up in the Coaches Poll. That is roughly the same as saying NIU has to be two spots ahead of UCLA on every ballot cast in both polls.

Not mad, I'm nowhere near a Georgia fan. In fact, they are one of my least favorite teams. But Murray was 10 yards away from the play, the Bama player was in the process of getting tackled, and Murray was walking. The hit was dirty, cheap, gutless, and uncalled for. If the NCAA doesn't suspend him, Saban should just to show a message that he doesn't accept that kind of play. Of course, he won't, because he's an asshole.

The part I don't like about it is that the defender turns, sees an opportunity to clobber Murray, and goes for him. This was a case of "free shot on the QB" not just trying to be physical and make a block. You may not like it, but it has been a point of emphasis and should have been flagged.

Like I said in my original post, it was unnecessary roughness. But during the play, walking toward your sideline doesn't grant you immunity from other players.
