His career after the 90s was literally nothing and if he hadn't stuck around for basically another decade no one would care at all. He made one super bowl and his only meaningful kick was the game winner in the NFCCG. I know he won't get in so it doesn't really matter but I'm surprised he even got to the semi-finals. Whenever Vinatieri retires Andersen won't get any 'honourary' placement as a semi-finalist.

Lynch and Atwater will find it very tough. There's a lot of good safetys who didn't even get this far - Darren Woodson, Joey Browner, LeRoy Butler, Deron Cherry. Kenny Easley is now a Senior with Donnie Shell.
Ronnie Lott is the only HOF safety drafted since the 1970 merger. Ed Reed is a lock though. Polamalu will follow soon after. That leaves Atwater and Lynch fighting it out with Brian Dawkins and it's conceivable they cancel each other out among the voters.

After the 90's. He came into the league in 1982. That's what, more than 15 good years? He holds practically every significant kicking record there is. Vinitari has made some good kicks in his career as a Patriot, but if you talk about his career overall as a kicker, I'd give the nod to Anderson. Overall he was a better kicker. The circumstance on the teams he played for, how good they were, I mean Anderson has no control over that. It's like saying Curtis Martin shouldn't be in the HOF because he didn't really have any significant games where people talk about his memorable performances.

You forgot Rod Woodson. I mean, he started out as a corner, but...also played great as a safety for a while. And Ronnie played corner his first few seasons.

Andersen is 40/84 beyond 50 yards and 68% in 40-49. I dont care about how many points he scored in 25 years.

I consider Woodson to be primarily a CB. He only moved to safety after Barry Sanders juked him out of his ACL. Woodson and Deion were the two 1st team CBs on the 1990s All Decade Team. I'm probably older than most here and can remember his entire career.

Andersen retired 5 years ago not 5 decades.

I predict a ton of guys get in. Like, if there's a maximum allowed, that's close to the amount that gets in. Sapp, Strahan, Ogden and Allen should all be first year guys, and there are others that have been on the ballot long enough and deserve to finally get the call.

Personally I think all the first ballots except Lynch get in which hurts because I really like John Lynch. I also think it is Tuna's year to make it. Which leaves only one slot left for the Maximum of 7 inductees for this years class. Could it be time for Carter?

Only a max of 5 from those 27 names can be elected each year. The two Senior candidates make up the maximum Class of 7.
In early Jan they'll name the 15 finalists. Then on HOF Election Day the 44 voters meet and they'll cut the list down to 10, then again down to 5. Only those last 5 are voted Yes or No with 80% Yes votes needed. The two Seniors are voted separately and are not in direct competition with the modern era nominees.

Morten Anderson was better than Adam Vinatieri. It doesn't matter, though. Jan Stenerud is the only pure kicker who's ever getting into the HOF.
Speaking of Jan Stenerud, I know a lot of you guys had one of these as a kid:
Good times.

Steve Atwater was better than Lynch, and Atwater I don't think has sniffed the HOF.
