The Vikings were 15-1 in 1998 without AD, so clearly they can play just fine without him.

Myth: The Patriots didn't miss Brady the year he was injured!
Reality: They went from being almost 19-0 in 2007 to being 11-5 and missing the playoffs in 2008.
I believe 2008 was the only year the Patriots have not made the playoffs in the last decade.

It was a fluke the Pats missed the playoffs at 11-5, and I think it was the only time in the 16 game era a team with that record has missed the playoffs.
Winning 11 games without Brady is impressive to me.

They didn't make the playoffs in 2002. Don't know if you're counting this season though.

nothing the pats did that season is remotely relevant to this season. it'll be awesome when it stops being part of the conversation.

The 1985 Broncos also missed the playoffs with 11 wins.

The Colts also went like 2-14 last year, hence Manning is the mvp this year. Am I doing this right?

JJ Watt. Felt like every play that was made yesterday against us there he was.

If Peterson breaks the rushing record and the Vikings make the playoffs, he's got to be the MVP.
If he doesn't break it but comes close and the Vikings make the playoffs I still think I give it to him.
If he breaks it and they miss, I think I go with a QB.
If he doesn't break it and they don't make the playoffs I go with a QB.

Why does it matter if Peterson breaks a record? The MVP should go to the MVP, regardless of statistical records. Would it hurt AD's cause if he finished 1 yard shy of the record? Brees didn't get the MVP last year after throwing the most yards ever. The most important thing is that he keeps playing well and the Vikings keep winning.

It doesn't really matter to me which is why I said I'd give it to him if he came close and they made the playoffs.
But voters would absolutely be more inclined to vote for him if he broke the record.
They wouldn't want to be part of the trivia question: what NFL running back broke the rushing record but didn't win MVP?

Updated Voting:
- Adrian Peterson* 1,812 yards rushing, 6.3 per carry, 11 TD's, 8-6 record
- Peyton Manning* 103.5 passer rating, 31/10 TD/Int, 11-3 record
- Aaron Rodgers* 104.7 passer rating, 32/8 TD/Int, 11-3 record
- Tom Brady* 100.1 passer rating, 30/6 TD/Int, 10-4 record
I'm confident in this voting.
The only thing I struggle is who I would put at #5 right now.
That's a debate that interests me, but this above? That's pretty solid right there bro.

JJ Watt could break the sack record he faces Minnesota and the Colts again. Could easily get 5 sacks in that time period bring his sack total to 24.5. Apparently he already broke the sack record for a 3-4 D-lineman. He is 8th in the league with 15 pass deflections..the next closest non DB is London Fletcher...at 47th. Also leads the league in tackles for loss.

If the Vikings make the playoffs it absolutely has to go to Peterson. He is the only reason that team has a winning record. 8 consecutive 100 yard rushing games, with 6 of the 8 being over 150 including 2 over 200. He's single handedly winning games. Obviously there's the rushing record, but regardless of that I don't know if a runningback has ever played a season better than Adrian Peterson in 2012.

His past eight games...he's just been unreal. I'm not sure if a RB has ever strung together an eight-game streak that was this prolific. I fully expect him to plow through GB's front seven for 150-200 yards in week 17, and take Dickerson's record.
Even if he falls short of the record, he's still been incredible.

Jamal Lewis had 2016 yards rushing and 14 TD's but finished only 4th in MVP voting so maybe Peyton Manning takes the MVP from AD like he did Jamal in 03.

Good point. That team had Anthony Wright/Kyle Boller as QBs.
Only counter-argument could be that the Ravens defense was ridiculous.
Nothing about the Vikings is above average. Nothing. It's literally just him. LOL

That and the Ravens made the playoffs. He got real close to the record and if I remember correctly the Steelers stopped him of getting the record in the final week.

Funny how the best QBs are always knocked for having good players around them. Could it be that great QBs help elevate the play of those around them?

Correction it was actually 2066 yards so he fell only 39 yards short of Dickerson's record. He needed 153 yards against the steelers to set the record but rushed for only 114 and a TD but that win in OT did get the Ravens into the playoffs.

Good discussion by you guys tonight, that's what we're looking for here.
Impressive.
Now, fill out your ballots here #1-#5.
I guess BSD made a good case for Watt on me, so I will put Watt at #5, which is impressive as hell.
- Peterson
- Manning
- Rodgers
- Brady
- Watt
