I've never been a fan of Edwin Jackson, so I am not that excited for this move. Would have rather Anibal for the deal that was leaked early. But Garza-Samardzija-Jackson-Villanueva-Baker/Feldman/T. Wood is not that bad and the most starting pitching depth we have had in a while.

I'm having doubts about this A.J. Pierzynski signing for the Rangers. The club house is a close one and he's always been a little off main street. Just a one year deal, so I can't complain about that. The whole All-Star thing is ironic.
Quote:
It was just last July when Pierzynski was left off the AL All-Star team by Rangers manager Ron Washington, who said he just didn't have room to put him on the squad. Washington has repeatedly praised Pierzynski throughout the years.
"I feel bad for Pierzynski," Washington said shortly after the All-Star team was announced. "The guy's having an outstanding year. He's been working with a very good pitching staff over there with those Chicago White Sox for many years. I consider him a winning player because he beats you any kind of way he can. He beats you mentally. He beats you physically. So I feel really bad for Pierzynski."
Pierzynski was not pleased with Washington's decision.
"If (Washington) felt that bad, he would have put me on the team,'' Pierzynski said at the time. "He had an opportunity to and he didn't do it. Obviously, he can feel as bad as he wants, but he didn't feel that bad."

His teammates have always loved him. He will get his teammates back at the drop of the hat. That said **** AJ.

If the main pieces in a Hanrahan is Franklin Morales or Alfredo Aceves, I'm going to be furious.

To be honest I am not all that happy about getting rid of either... Although I do love Hanny.
Morales is a good Lefty out of the pen and threw up some good numbers spot starting and Aceves is probably the best guy in our pen for how versatile he is. I would be more inclined to give up Dubront for Hanrahan than those guys.

Francisco Liriano to the Pirates. 2 years, 14 million. I like the move.

Liriano for 1 year is good. I wouldn't have given him a 2nd year.

Haha I remember when the Red Sox almost traded for him. Glad we dodged that bullet and got Bedard

I'm a fan of Liriano. I know he's got his critics but 2 years is fair.

Having Cain, Bumgarner and Posey doesn't really hurt...

And that's why a guy who can be a catcher for a knuckle ball is amazing.

Agreed.
But the one exception might be Catcher.
Pierzynski has done fine in the past, so it's probably not an issue.

I full expect Liriano to bounce back in the NL and pitchers park. But he does scare me.

from an espn article:
From Bill James Online, lowest OBP allowed versus a hitter leading off an inning:
1. Johnny Cueto, Reds, .234
2. Bartolo Colon, A's, .236
3. Homer Bailey, Reds, .236
4. Bronson Arroyo, Reds, .244
5. Jered Weaver, Angels, .255
I never want to lose Bryan Price

Baseball has always and will always be an individual game. One on one, pitcher vs catcher. Obviously teams get along or dont...but chemistry doesnt have much to do with team success.
