I was never close with themaninblack, but I certainly knew the name and who he was. I remember him as a good Reds poster, and I never held his Bengals fanhood against him. It's times like these that we realize how close of a group we are, and as sad as it may seem, how much we affect each other's lives. With that said, thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
Damn... themaninblack was one of the guys one here who I really, really liked. Finding out he's the one who hobbes was talking about has put me in a bad mood. I kept looking for the "jk" post or anything, but its not happening. I didn't talk with him outside of here, but I always enjoyed conversations we had, whether it was about football or music. He is one of the people here who I talked to the most about music with, and losing that is going to suck. Hard. Its obvious to everyone here that he was a great poster, and evident he was a great guy as well. I will miss him greatly, we all will, his family and friends, especially. I'm still in shock, in a way, I don't want to lose any of you guys. Like vidae said, we are a community here, and we just lost a valuable member. He was one of the handful of guys who's posts I looked for in the music thread, and I'm going to miss his influence greatly. Instantly when I found out that he was the guy hobbes said had passed, I thought of a post in that thread where hobbes mentioned their night a great friend helping him at Bonnaroo. He knew you cared about him hobbes, and I'm sure you know you cared about you too.
I really feel for his close friends and family, and I for one would be willing to help in any way I can. I can't do much, but I'll do what I can.

This snow is putting my Vegas trip in jeopardy. Not thrilled about that.
Umm, not sure this would be the thread to complain about that.
Never knew TMIB or interacted with him on this forum, but it's always a tragedy when someone so young is taken so early - on Christmas Eve no less. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. I hope they somehow find comfort in their own way.
Damn. This is terrible news. Rest In Peace. Hopefully he's in a better place now.
Let's never forget, while we may disagree on things on this forum, and we may have polarizing opinions, and maybe even dislike some others on here, let's never forget we're all human beings who share this world together, and we all have a common bond that brought us all here together.
While many of us never knew him personally, we sympathize with his family, his friends, and his loved ones because we are all people with families, friends and loved ones we care about and can relate, and this forum brings us closer together because of the common bond we share. We feel we knew him even though we didn't, and we mourn with his loved ones today.
RIP TheManInBlack. We'll miss you.

I have been away from SWDC for a few days and I just saw this, all I can say is wow. I didn't know him personally but there is a very close bond on this site for what is (for the most part) a group of relative strangers. RIP, thoughts and prayers with his friends and family. Especially tough during this time of year. Cherish those who are important to you because you truly never know.
Damn, I hadn't been here since Christmas Eve and a quick Merry Christmas yesterday, and well, I'm going through the initial shock. TMIB was a really cool poster. Never really got to know him but we did band together on a few topics and we disagreed and argued on others. Always enjoyed it, will definitely be missed.
RIP TheManInBlack

just so awful. been said before but we really are a family on here and it hurts to lose one of our own. Can't even imagine what his actual family are going through and my thoughts and prayers are with them. I'll help with any kind of flowers or sort if we send them. RIP themaninblack and let the bengals win for you. I hope you and Ryan Freel are partying hard up there

Again RIP. Never knew him too well, but we planned on playing H4 together at some point and unfortunately that will never get to happen now. Just terrible news, especially this time of year.
May he Rest in Peace and my thoughts and prayers go out to his love ones. He will truly be missed by us all. This sort of thing just makes you realize how life is so precious and never take it for granted.

I've been out of town for a few days and just saw this. Man, this sucks. I thought he was a really solid contributor and was one of the more genuine people on this forum.
Def getting a little teary eyed reading through post today. You will be missed dearly TheManInBlack and I hope some of my friends who are already up in heaven welcomed you with loving arms. It's crazy to think about how tight nit of a family we have on this site and I couldn't imagine not being apart of it.
Everyone has to go sometime, but nobody should ever die that young. It's not fair to have life pulled from you right as you are ready to enter the world as an adult with your whole life in front of you.
My deepest sympathies go out to all who knew him, especially his parents. A mention of him on the front page would be more than appropriate, I think. Perhaps this could be brought to Scott or JBond's attention.
If I haven't yet made it clear, the responses here have been extremely uplifting in the face of such sadness. I know it's a tough loss, but also am sure that his family would be floored by the love from the internet. It truly speaks to the breadth of this board as a community and for that I am proud to be a member.

The deepest of condolences to those close to him. There's really very little to say that hasn't already been said, but I do agree with the expressed that it's very possible to forge legitimate friendships in a place like this and I believe that we all have. Having known themaninblack primarily through his posts in the music thread, I'll leave any further tribute in that form. R.I.P.

Very sad news. My condolences go out to his family and friends. I, too, had a ton of respect for him as a poster here. There weren't a ton of direct interactions, though I did find a better Munoz pic for him for an avatar b/c he had such a grainy, old thing. I wish I had a copy of the old one to rock as a better tribute, but a finishing out the year with his avi seems appropriate.
I guess I have been a way from the site for a few days and the little time I spent, I didn't notice this thread. Very sad news. I know as a (St. Louis) Cardinals fan, TMIB and I have exchanged some good natured jabs with the rivalry. It sucks even more cuz it came during Christmas and New Year's and his last post was a RIP Ryan Freel post. Well, RIP good man, I will miss our competitive banter good man.
