There really is no logical reason to keep Ryan. He's built nothing in 4 years, and his team is an absolute disaster right now. All you'll do by keeping him around is encourage a coach to make more desperate moves to keep his job right the time when the team needs a vision for the future.

I agree with this. Now it's unfair to lump everything on top of Ryan for the Jets' failure, the GM and owner need to be widely criticised too, but he can't simply be immune to criticism. Ryan is a great defensive coach and motivator. However, he is a poor evaluator, especially offensively, and his team lacks discipline (not Lions' ill-discipline but not too far away).

If Ryan is kept it has to be under the proviso that a strong GM comes in and is the decision maker. He must also bring a good offensive guy with him. Take the personnel decisions off Rex and let him coach up the defense and motivate the team. That he would be good at, but as a HC with full responsibilities I believe he is out of his depth.

Mike Tanumbuam from the NYJ has been dismissed.

Pat Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert have been fired from Cleveland.

Romeo Crennel has been fired, but GM Scott Pioli will not be.

He's been given absolutely nothing at the QB position by his GM. If the new guy acquires anything close to an adequate QB, he could have success, like when he made 2 straight conference championships with Mark ************* Sanchez.

I'm sure RR had plenty of input into the selection of Sanchez. Taking Sanchez out of the equation, what has he really built during his time there? In what ways is the team better than it was in the last year of the Mangini era today with 4 years of Ryan influence? If Cro, Wilkerson, and Kerley is all you have to show for 4 years of drafting, development, and free agency then you have a serious problem.

100% agreed here. Mr. T had great drafts when Mangini was coach and then terrible drafts when Ryan has been coach. Can't just be a coincidence.

Exactly. Let's not forget Mr. T is a salary cap guy so the evaluation of talents falls on the head coach and the staff.

Andy Reid officially fired, per NFLN.

I think that is a mistake. Eagles fans can correct me on that, but I was always a big fan of Andy Reid.

I'll personally be glad to see him go. He certainly had his faults but overall did a good job. It was time for him to go though.

I'd like to see him end up in KC, think it would be a smart hire for the Chiefs. However I doubt it happens.

(Insert random joke about KC restaurants and Weis & Reid here).

Most Eagles fans I'm friends with want Andy gone but still appreciate all he did inhis time as HC. Sometimes I think it's just time to go and this feels like one of those times.

The guy KC should go after is bill O'Brien but I doubt he leaves Psu.

Reid would be a good hire but I think they go young route.

I actully wouldn't mind Andy Reid in KC for the most part. My biggest concerns would be him refusing to run the football and would he want to move to a 4-3 D?

It's because ESPN is reporting that news.

RAC has been officially fired.

From Clark Hunt:

Quote:
However, I am embarrassed by the poor product we gave our fans this season, and I believe we have no choice but to move the franchise in a different direction. I will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the Chiefs. The entire football operation will remain under review, and there may be additional changes to come. No final determination has been made at this point on the future of General Manager Scott Pioli.
HE will begin the search for the next HC, HE is still reviewing the football operation side, and HE was the one who spoke about the firing of RAC. Pioli is anything but safe. Clark just needs to do the right thing here.

From all accounts Pioli hasn't been told yet, but it doesn't mean he won't be fired.

I literally posted that 7 minutes ago. When it was "reported" before there was nothing concrete from Arrowhead/The Chiefs. Now there is.

And Chan Gailey has apparently been fired too.
