Smith will be gone and I seriously doubt Ellis will be resigned. It all goes down to what we value more at the time of the pick.

I'm not a big fan of Ogeltree's to be honest, I think he's more of a 2nd day selection, 3rd round.

Very true, but there is not a DE you will get after round 1, maybe sans Margus Hunt, who comes in and helps shore up the need at DE. Wilson and Gallette are playing out of scheme; they are 3-4 backers, not 4-3 ends. The other thing is, if Ellis departs, you still have Hicks, Bunkley, and Tom Johnson. I just think DE is a bigger need than DT.

I like Margus a lot but that would be a bit of a luxury pick. Bowen and Jenkins are very solid and Carriker will be coming back from injury. If we could settle the secondary and get another playmaker on offense in free agency it would be ok, but DE is too far down the list of needs to be used on our first pick I believe

This.

RT isn't Veldheer's "more natural position." He's one of the more athletic LTs in the league.

That being said, if Oakland did take the value pick in Joeckel and move Veldheer to RT, I'd be stoked. Bookends like a mutha...

Really need some DT and pass rush help, though.
