Don't get me wrong, kid looks great thus far. I wish him and A&M nothing but the best!

Not really. Manziel isn't playing at Florida with the level of talent around him that Florida can recruit.

However, an argument can be made that he should be the Heisman front runner right now.... as a freshman. A Heisman trophy is certainly attainable for this kid, possibly more.

Any time a freshman QB is leading the SEC in both rushing and passing, he's a special player.

Although he won't always have those two NFL offensive tackles blocking for him, and the SEC tends to adjust to quarterbacks like Manziel.

All I'm saying is that it's possible for him have put together one of the best careers a dual threat QB has ever had in the SEC by the time his A&M days are over.

Manziel has a long way to go before he overshadows the accomplishments of Tebow at Florida.

Playing in the SEC is going to help A&M potentially outrecruit Texas and OU in the Southwest, so he's going to have better talent around him.

IMO Manziel isn't the Heisman front runner now, but he will be heading into the 2013 season.
If K-State finishes undefeated I don't think there's any way Manziel comes close to winning the trophy.

I think Sam Montgomery summed it up best regarding Johnny Football...

I freaking love Manziel. He's like watching Steve Nash play QB. I just hope he can stay healthy.

I am truly disappointed this post didn't get quoted at least 25 times. Only twice? TWICE!?

But let's discuss him as an NFL QB (or something else) prospect.

OK go.

And you call yourselves red-blooded Americans. Gee whiz.

Also, Manziel still hasn't become the player he will. And that's neither a good thing, or bad. Most anybody with a pulse will tell you his "draft grade" is incomplete. That's about as far as I'm willing to go right now. We'll find out with time on Johnny Football, but right now it's incomplete.

Watched his whole game tonight.

I'll just put it this way:

1) His evaluation is going to be tough for NFL scouts.

2) There is going to be a lot of inaccurate stuff written about him and his offense in the next year or two in terms of his NFL prospects.

3) He's going to be a polarizing prospect.

4) There are unknowns about his true arm strength/footwork/mechanics/offense that probably won't be uncovered by draftniks.

5) No one comparison will do him justice.

Probably looking at a Russell Wilson type situation. Third round seems a pretty fair prediction.

I think Wilson's success will make a positive impact on Manziel's draft stock.

At this point, it would take some sort of epic meltdown or catastrophe for Manziel to be drafted in the third round.

His draft stock *MIGHT* end up analyzed like Tebow's was (2nd-round but if you want him you have to pull the trigger mid-late first), but it's far more likely that he's in the top 5 range for a bunch of projected reasons.

Flutie scrambled more to buy time where Manziel runs at the college level as part of the offense. Not sure that translates to the next level.

I heard a stat last week that over 700 of his 1100 yards at the time were off scrambles and not designed runs.

Manziel's legs are special when he's buying time a la Big Ben. Yes he's a good runner, but his escapability and mobility in and around the pocket/ability to throw on the run is what separates him from the guys who excel in the zone read and can hit open receivers (Braxton Miller).

Russell Wilson has been okay. He hasn't been good enough to impact someone elses draft stock.

Mel Kiper seems to like him...says he likes his accuracy and mobility, plus he said the arm strength could get better with age.

Comp was potentially Drew Brees?

His performance last night was EXTREMELY impressive. No. 1 overall pick stuff.

He may have thrown two inaccurate passes all night and his pick was on a perfectly accurate TD pass dropped in the end zone.

There was a corner route to Swope from the opposite hash that was a thing of beauty... his last TD was a perfect deep ball.

His velocity in the intermediate game is top notch.

This guy is for real. He can make any throw and his accuracy is a strength. And when you combine that with his dynamic mobility within AND outside of the pocket he is my favorite for the No.1 pick next year as a RS Soph.

Jadeveon Clowney will eat him next year just to stop that happening.

Also, let's see how he fares when either or both his stud OTs are gone. Even when he isn't scrambling or running designed runs there is nobody in his face. A&M's offensive line is on a par with Alabama's. Take Joeckel, and possibly Matthews, away and I think he struggles a little more. Still going to have a great year next year but I would temper expectations

He will be one of the most intriguing players to watch the next few years. Clearly he is the most dynamic playmaker in college football. He has enough arm strength and his instincts are just amazing as a runner.

His popularity is astounding as a RS-Fr and he seems to have a good head on his shoulders so I don't think he will screw up his potential NFL career.

I hope both Mariota and Manziel come out next year. And Bridgewater. That would be a sexy QB class.

Replacing his OL with inferior players will do next to nothing to his evaluation. Yes it will impact his stats and perhaps team performance, but his ability to pass and pass accurately will only be slightly affected. He doesn't need time to make things happen.

And A&M's OL is probably equal to Bama's. And look at McCarron against Manziel.......

As for Clowney - you might be right but he's the QB.

He does great things with pressure, but that's different than having a real pass rush all around you constantly. Having a guy to juke every now and then is much different than guys collapsing the pocket all game. That offensive line is pretty amazing, it opens up a lot of stuff for that offense and can not be given enough credit.

Even with as great as Manziel is, a couple non-converted 3rd downs and a game can completely change. That offensive line is a huge part in his success. I will really be interested to see how he plays next year, I'm not doubting I just think the jury is still out on him as an NFL QB.

Which teams will be looking to draft him? Try to guess that bad boy!

You can make that argument about Peyton Manning in Denver, or Tom Brady. Of course if you take away sombody's best teammates around him it will be harder. But what you're suggesting is that Manziel's success has been a result of his OTs....? Seriously? A&M doesn't not have SEC caliber talent on their team at this point. They struggled in the Big 12 and then this guy comes in and elevates the play of everybody around him... without #1 picks at every skill position like so many other successful collegiate QBs ahve had (every USC QB, Tebow, every Alabama QB, LSU QBs). A&M's WRs will be lucky to get drafted by the 4th round. It's Manziel's play that is special, but no, he will struggle more with less protection and weapons, just think back to how Roethlisberger struggled when he played Iowa.
