Zac Dysert - Record as Starter a Concern?

I don't think a winning record makes a big difference...supporting cast has a lot to do with that

Look at Kellen Moore, David Greene and Colt McCoy...they are the 3 most successful QBs in NCAA history when it comes to wins...look what they accounted to in the NFL?

Having tons of talent around you doesn't seem to help much either...

Finding a QB is an inexact science that is very hard to get right.

If you play for USC, Texas, Oklahoma, or any other school that can more or less recruit whoever they want, then yes: your win/loss record as a quarterback matters. It says "even when I surround this guy with talent, the results still aren't great."

If you play for Delaware, Vanderbilt, Kansas State, Miami University, etc. your win loss record really doesn't mean that much. You're frequently going to be lined up against teams that just have better players than you do. I mean, Miami University plays in the MAC, MAC teams regularly get scheduled as cupcakes for Midwestern teams to round out their preseason schedule.

How many of Dysert's losses are games that Miami simply wasn't supposed to win? On the other side of things, how many wins belonging to Barkley or Landry Jones are games that USC or Oklahoma didn't even need to play those guys in order to win by four touchdowns?

A lot of excuses get made for Glennon, but Dysert was probably dealing with the worst combination of supporting cast and offensive scheme in the country. It's kind of disgusting to watch at times.

I think Dysert's overall body of work as an individual player is pretty impressive. Physically he is the prototype, it will be great to see him at the Senior Bowl. I am interested to see him at the combine - I think he possesses all the tools needed to be a 2nd/3rd rounder with some upside.

In some ways the lack of supporting cast helps Dysert. He's got the arm to fit the ball into tight windows - but when he's got an open guy he takes something off his passes and throws catchable passes because he knows his receivers aren't great. If you look at Ryan Nassib sometimes, he uses the fastball too often and results in drops.

Dysert's big weakness is his eyes. Will stare down his man before throwing and in that regard reminds me of Nick Foles at this time last year.
