Doug Marrone agrees to become Buffalo Bills HC
Adam Schefter said so.

Lovie Smith basically begged for the job but the Bills wanted Marrone. It'll be interesting to see who he brings in as assistants. Hopefully Scott Shaffer comes in with him.
Different from the Bills.

you have a guy like Lovie Smith who practically begged for the job, and you go with Marrone?
he'll be gone in 3 years

Bleh....I just don't get how Lovie desperately wanted the job and got passed on. At least this is an "exciting" hire. Young guy with a passion for WNY and for coaching here (which not may people do)....pretty much the antithesis of Juaron/Gailey.

Bills needed a different direction from the retreads approach they have been hammering.
Passionate West New York guy who elevated Syracuse to being relevant after being one of the west teams in college football. Definitely needs to bring in high quality assistants but can't blame the Bills for going away from another retread like Lovie.

I wouldn't hire Lovie Smith. Not a chance in hell. Ken Whisenhunt, however, would be at the top of my list of eligible coaches, I'm surprised the Bills didn't jump all over that.

I don't think Whisenhunt wanted to go in the same situation he had in Arizona: not having a qb and having a weak class to choose from.

I don't get this hire. He was .500 at Syracuse and that is his only head coaching experience. He has a bit of NFL experience which I suppose is nice but it was as the OC of the Saints but with Sean Payton and Drew Brees, how much is he really doing? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see Marrone ending Buffalo's 13-season playoff drought.

Or at least, in all likelihood, the future QB of the Bills.

Maybe, I doubt he will be married to him though. He didn't recruit him and started Paulus over him.
Anyway, if he can bring Scott Shafer with him, that will have me excited.

Before taking the Syracuse job, Marrone was OC of the Saints in the Brees/Bush era from '06-'08. Then again, since he left NO, Brees set passing records left and right...so maybe this isn't a good thing.
Don't like this hire, I think all it will do is turn Syracuse into an ACC bottom-feeder and turn the Bills into the same ol' Bills (Except with maybe Nassib or Barkley at QB).

Lovie Smith may be expensive to pay. Doug Marrone may be the cheapest price. I saw that coming.
Congrats Marrone. Ryan Nassib is locked for top 10 money.

Who cares. It is OC and DC's jobs. If he has learned the blueprint of handling NFL team under Sean Payton then he will hire good OC and DC. The trick is Bills don't overpay anything like Saints did.

Actually, Marrone was probably more expensive considering his buyout. I will say one thing about the hire, it doesn't appear that the Bills cheaped out.

Syracuse may not afford to pay a luxury contract so I don't see expensive (by standard) buyout in his clause with Orange.

Dang, Ive been calling for Lovie to the Bills since he got fired. It made sense to me.
Wonder where Lovie goes now?
San Diego just doesn't seem "Lovie" to me.

Lovie Smith should take a "pay cut" to be Browns' HC. That is only a way to beat Chip Kelly. lol.

It is definitely a much cheaper hire in line with how Wilson operates. He had better be brillient because he need that to succeed in Buffalo.
