Reading between the lines here: The MRI was bad news, so they want another full check-up to be 100% positive what they saw was correct. Watching the presser Shanny made an Adrian Peterson reference, and how he was able to recover. I see no reason to even take it there if nothing was torn.

Redskins fans accusing their own team of piping in crowd noise. The Seahawks were accused of this in 2005 by the Giants, but an NFL investigation found nothing....never heard of a teams own fans accusing them of it.

From experience, when you have an MRI done, the technician or someone else semi-qualified puts a little one or two sentence blurb on the the MRI itself. Most times it will say torn ACL or whatever because it is normally pretty obviously visible. However you then take that MRI with you to your doctor to confirm what was obvious anyway. That could be what's going on here.

Well I guess that means Kirk Cousins won't be available in a trade this offseason. Also, this should end the proliferation of the read option in the NFL.

Yea when I tore my anterior and posterior labrum the guy that did the MRI wrote torn rotator on my MRI. I then went to my doctor who said it was a torn labrum. When he went in to do surgery it was all three...

You have to fear that Robert Griffin's career is going to be short if he doesn't come up with a differant style of play. I'm not sure the read option is done per se but it may be going the way of the wildcat.
I've always thought these types of things (like the wishbone) can be figured out, otherwise they'd still be running it at Oklahoma.

They've seen a million MRIs so they know what normal and f'ed up looks like. I tore my ACL and the nurse brought me into the room to see my doctor after I had the MRI done. She loaded the MRI onto the computer and walked out. While I waited for the doctor, I read it and it said ACL not intact. He comes in, 2 seconds later he confirms, and that's that. Then he showed me what to look for on the MRI and it was pretty damn obvious.
Like you said Andrews probably got on a plane for Miami before the MRI was done. The Skins got the MRI and realized it's real bad, but are sending him to Andrews tomorrow to confirm how bad it really is.

So what exactly does the partially torn ACL and LCL mean for RGIII's immediate future? No way he will be back at the start of next season?

It's hard to say. He's already torn the ACL in that knee before, so another partial tear there is just about the same as a full tear because he may need to get it completely replaced. But he's had work in that knee before so I'm guessing a lot of what they do depends on that. He could be ready by September, but in lieu of the events that happened already I highly doubt they are in a hurry to get him ready for week 1 next year.

Oh okay. I read somewhere (Twitter actually) that he could be out 12-16 months. That would have been messed up.

Probably too early to tell but as Legend said they will now err on the side of caution.
For me I wonder what this does to his style of play. Something tells me his days running option football might be over.

Good thing we didn't have expanded playoffs. One weekend of terri-bad football was enough.

Rob Parker fired from ESPN.
Quote:
Nearly a month after he questioned the "blackness" of Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III on ESPN airwaves, Rob Parker is out of a job.
The network announced Tuesday that the commentator's time with ESPN is over.
"Rob Parker's contract expired at year's end. Evaluating our needs and his work, including his recent RG3 comments, we decided not to renew his deal," an ESPN spokesperson said in a statement.
ESPN announced on Dec. 20 that Parker had been suspended 30 days for his comments about Griffin. At the time of the suspension, ESPN said in a statement that it took "appropriate disciplinary measures" with "personnel responsible" for the airing of the comments.

He wasn't fired. They chose to not re-sign him.

While that is technically true, I get the feeling that ESPN probably would have kept him if those comments weren't made regarding Griffin III.
