I'm a big fan of Ertz. I don't think he has the big play potential of Fleener, but he is good all around and will make his share of plays. I'm not as high on Toilolo. He has size but isn't dynamic. He should have dominated the redzone and just never did, even with Luck.

Looks like Eifert and Ertz then a big drop off for me.
Like next years class better with:
Sefarian-Jenkins, wash.
Lyerla, Oregon
Pedersen, Wisconsin

There are far too many quality TEs in this class to just be ranking 5 of them.

1. Tyler Eifert - late 1st
2. Zach Ertz - early 2nd (I'm tempted to put him #1 on my rankings, better long speed than Eifert, but not a very good blocker)
3. Jordan Reed- 3rd round
4. Travis Kelce- 3rd-4th (close to being #3)
5. Ryan Otten- 4th round

Every TE under 6'5" gets compared to Aaron Hernandez, but Reed is probably the closest. More of a big WR. Former QB. Has put on weight to play TE, but not a huge in-line TE type. Very quick, has some speed, great after the catch.
Kelce is also a former QB (seems like a lot of TEs are). He IS the huge in-line type of TE, at 6-5, 260 ish. Not a big time blocker, but is still getting stronger in the upper body. But he can move like the smaller guys. Really good straight line speed and will be a terror down the seam in the NFL. Brother of Eagles center Jason Kelce, so has some NFL bloodlines. Not quite Gronk or Graham, but he has the potential to be just a notch below those guys.

I question Reed's hands and question his effort even more.

MarQueis Gray has caught my attention as a potential conversion project to tight end in the NFL. He's got some really rare size and movement ability, but bounced around different positions all through his college career at Minnesota.

Travis Kelce could end up being a top 50 pick. Michael Williams is such a great blocker and an underrated pass catcher. Limited in route running but when it's throw his way his hands are pretty good.

<+ScottWright> Why not. Baldwin does need a sparring partner...

This is how I would go with just seniors so far, got some great depth, not elite talent in terms of 4 great guys but late there are multiple guys who could be very good pro players. Still think Eifert is the #1 guy over Ertz though.
TE
Tyler Eifert Notre Dame
Zach Ertz Stanford
Joseph Fauria UCLA
Chris Gragg Arkansas
Michael Williams Alabama
Brandon Ford Clemson
Matt Furstenburg Maryland
Levine Toilolo Stanford
Jake Stoneburner Ohio State
Vance McDonald Rice
Mychal Rivera Tennessee
Colter Phillips Virginia
Philip Lutzenkirchen Auburn
Jake Doyle Western Kentucky
Ben Cotton Nebraska
Ferbia Allen Ole Miss
Blake Hammond Western Michigan
Kendrick Moeai Utah
DC Jefferson Rutgers
Kyler Reed Nebraska
Andrew Power North Texas

Ertz seems to be gathering steam right now appearing in a to of top 25s and top 32s.
He is also in a ton of mock drafts in the 1st round.
What u remember about last season was that scouts and draftniks really got on Fleener as not a 1st round pick because he wasn't even the best TE on the team.

Watch out for Vance McDonald, TE, Rice, he made a quantum leap up draft boards at the Senior Bowl and could be as high as 3 or 4 in the pecking order.

IMO Travis Kelce could contend to jump Tyler Eifert because he is a superior blocker. He may be the best blocker in the draft as a TE except possible Michael Williams. Zach Ertz is just too good down the field for his lesser blocking skills in comparison for Kelce to take over the #1. I just don't think Eifert is that much better down the field to justify taking the inferrior blocking over Kelce.

Some of the big catches down field that Ertz made were Gonzalez like.
He has really nice body control for a 6'6" 252lbs man and he has shown more toughness than Fleener ever did.
I like Eifert but the only catches I really see him make are the ones I expect a TE to make.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Chiefs grab a TE in the 3rd or 4th round. Tony Moeaki has all the talent in the world but I don't trust him to stay on the field.

I'm going to say system and QBs have a lot to do with TE success.
Waiting on next year's crop with two studs in Sefarian-Jenkins and Colt Lyerla.

Seferian-Jenkins is going to be the next top 10 TE, which we have not had in some years.
