Hey, a fella can dream, right? We're actually off to a pretty good start in this thread. Surprisingly enough.

Outside of your own Packers, what other match-ups would you have preferred?

The first picture my mom ever took of me was me in a 49er shirt holding a football with the 49er logo on it, but once we moved to Kansas it was no contest. The Chiefs are infectious here. She used to go to every game in the old Kezar stadium and her family still had season tickets when they moved to Candlestick, and she is one of the biggest Chiefs fans there are now.
My Uncle is an annoying dipshit about football too, so it's easy to root against the 49ers.

They should just cancel the Super Bowl, no point in playing. Not a good enough match up for SuperPacker.

I really doubt Moss does anything of note in the Owl.

This Super Bowl is good for the NFL. No more talk of "elite quarterbacks" and their legacy. We've been there done that for the last decade or so. Finally we have two teams with a reputation for being physical and defensive-oriented. The HarBros. angle works well too. At least it's something new.

I wouldn't go that far. Maybe just replace the 49ers with any other team in the NFL.

San Francisco couldn't possibly provide an entertaining matchup?

He must have missed the last half-season of play. All the parts where the 49ers are a damn exciting team to watch.

I am actually really excited about this Super Bowl. I think it just goes to show that different people are interested in seeing different teams play. The last 2 years I have actually volunteered to work the Super Bowl because the game bored me.
This year's game has two teams that haven't been there in a long time. Granted, I would have loved to see either the Seahawks or Falcons vs the Texans so we were guaranteed a 1st-time winner, but I am way happier than seeing a Green Bay-New England game. That would have been the worst possible matchup to me. I wouldn't have minded seeing Denver, either, because I was really pulling for Manning this year.
For what it's worth, I think New England was the better team than Baltimore this year, but sometimes it's just your year...and I think this is Baltimore's year. Ravens 24, 49ers 16.

I just wanted to see Richard Sherman trolling on the biggest stage of them all.

That's the first thing I teach my defense. If they go into spread option, and every time the qb hands it off and fake runs to the right, I'm telling my OLB to smash that quarterback every time. He "bit" on the play fake. As long as the quarterback is acting as a running back he is not defenseless.
So I'm hitting the quarterback every time. And I guarantee teams will stop running the spread option once they see their qb getting killed out there every play.
The spread option and the pistol can work, it just can't be the staple of your offense. As a package, I like it. But to get teams out of running it every play like Washington did, or how SF is doing with Kaep, you gotta go kill the quarterback.
Why haven't defenses figured this out yet? Kill the quarterback.
|
I think we will see a lot of that next year. The thing I like about the NFL is teams adjust to what is going on, it seems like we always see something new in the NFL and the media acts like it's going to last forever but teams figure it out.
I can just see with the way of football is now the first QB that gets injured on a play like that when they didn't have the ball will cause the NFL to panic and start handing down fines and changing rules.
I don't know why people don't like the Superbowl this year? two new teams that run the ball and play great defense sounds great to me.
