Not looking good tonight, but I've been pretty encouraged with how Heatley has played so far this year. Looks like a completely different skater. He's got so much more explosiveness this year. Hoping for a big year from him.

I was working, so I didn't catch any of the game. Figures, because the Wings actually played well.

Brunner looked really good again.
Dats was awesome.
You can tell Tuzzi and Helm really help
Lashoff and Smith look really promising.

Any secondary scoring, please? We have one productive line and they have not been helping much in our own zone. Hodgson and others have been pretty bad on the draws there and it's killing us.
Grigorenko was on a line with John Scott and probably didn't break 7 minutes or play in the 3rd :/

I was listening on the radio, sounds like the refs were calling everything. Seems like some Minny fans aren't too happy with Suter's play right now.

Tons of whistles both ways.
I haven't watched hockey all that long but it felt like there was an above average occurrence of 5 on 3's

Is the sky still falling for the Wings?
Cory Conacher is so bomb. St. Louis and Stamkos have been amazing as usual.

I mean, the defense still looks bad at times. Quincy is crap. And Lashoff and Smith, while showing good things, are still really inexperienced. Defense will be a problem this season.

The second period is so bad for the Pens. Completely different team.

Suter is just fine. He's not Erik Karlsson, it's sometimes tough to see his impact. It doesn't surprise me that some Wild fans think that way, but they're just wrong imo.

One good game, three bad ones — Verdict is still out.
If Datsyuk keeps playing as well as he has to begin the season, that'd be nice. I think he's 100% healthy for the first time in about three seasons right now.

Penguins making me sad. Had a chance for a great start after two big wins at Philly and NY, they come out looking just awful in the home opener. Didn't get to see last nights game because Game Center was blacked out even though it wasn't broadcast here, but the reports say they looked similar to the opener after jumping out 2-0.
Obviously the overreactions weve come to know and love from Pittsburgh fans about cutting and firing everyone arnt smart, the team just has to play better. Can't really demand a star wing for Crosby and a top 4 defender with the roster the team already has. Plenty of stars on the team, just have got to play better.

I wanna see Lando come back and score a goal after plowing through Stuart for that elbow to the face.

Marleau is apparently the first guy to start the season with 4 multi-goal games since Cy Denneny. Ha. They good.

I think you meant shoulder, not elbow.

I think we're just gunna have to split the difference and call it his upper arm, cause Gabe absolutely got hit in the face by a part of Stuart's body that can come away from his torso.

Here's an image from the point of impact, you can see Stuart's elbow tucked down next to his own body.

Michael Russo speculated that a Devin Setoguchi for Simon Despres deal might be worked on. I'd say it's fair on both sides.

I'm fairly sure I can't see much of anything on that image.

Shouldn't the Penguins one day realize that their problems aren't about a lack of offense?

I don't disagree. If they were to move him, I'd hope it'd be for a top 4 defenseman.

So many Malkin turnovers. I really expected him to play well coming over from Canada. So many turnovers ending up in the net this early in the season. That one on an unfortunate change preventing Neal from touching the puck.
