Flacco will get his money. He may be aiming for 20 mil but we all know he won't get that much. He has really stepped up this postseason so good for him. Ravens won't let him get away no matter what. He isn't an elite QB but he is way ahead of what they could get in the market/draft. A franchise QB for sure.

Yes he throws the deep ball to Torrey (his first deep threat of his career). He just beat the Patriots without that deep shot to Torrey connecting at all. Joe may be inconsistent, but the Flac-cannon > Rex's Dragon.

If the Ravens lose the Super Bowl, Flacco will be back to a bottom 16 QB, according to the media. And the media will find some way to make it sound like the Ravens defense threw those TDs.

Looks like the Ravens need to pull a Harbaugh and switch QBs this weekend. That'll show Joe

Well, I would much rather pay Revis 16 mil/year than Flacco. But good luck to Joe.

Remember when everyone lul'ed about Eli Manning's contract? He was worth every penny.

Flacco's demands might seem outrageous right now, but that's how the market is, and he'll deserve that contract. The bottom line is the Ravens are a winning organization with hm, and his playoff record lends credence to the belief that you can win a SB with him.

Having that kind of assurance demands top dollar. That's just the nature of the business.

Do I view him as a top 10 qb in the league? I think he's borderline. He's in that 2nd tier of qbs who are all jumbled together. However, do I feel that he can continue to improve and become a solid top 10 guy? Yes I do. And I think you pay top dollar for those guys.

How much would Flacco have to demand for the Ravens to say no?

Joe Flacco isn't a QB that practically guarantees you a playoffs spot by himself, which is what I'd expect if I'm paying top dollar. He's been tremendous over the last four games, but it's not smart to over-weight these past three games.

I bet they give him a fat contract and miss the playoffs next year.

They've made it to the playoffs every year of his career. That's pretty impressive. I think the team is going to transition into a more Flacco-centric team built around his skillset moving forward as well.

I'm actually curious to see his development under Caldwell. He's looked better. Still a work in progress, and may never become an elite qb, but I'm curious to see how he develops.

20 mill is debatable, he probably won't get that anyway, but he's not a scrub either.

There's no such thing as a QB who guarentees a team a playoff by himself. Flacco has proven he can help a good team get to the Super Bowl. That's worth a lot of money.

If Baltimore wins the Super Bowl they should franchise him. Let the hype die down and sign him to a fair contract instead of one that is inflated because of his playoff performance.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. I'd say market value on Flacco would be 12-14 a year. 20 million/yr would be absolutely outrageous.

I think this is the question to ask, and something that the Ravens are probably having internal discussions about.

He gets his team into the more consistently than Brees, Manning, Roethlisberger, Vick, Bradford, and Rivers, all of whom have big contracts. Flacco will get somewhere between 17-19 million-per year when it's all said and done and he deserves every penny of it.

You can laugh all you want if he gets a huge contract but the truth is the Steelers have finished the season looking up at Baltimore's ass three out of Flacco's five seasons.

We all love to crap on Flacco, but over the last five years, what teams wouldn't trade for his success. The Giants, Packers, Steelers, and Saints have won Super Bowls in that time. So of course them. But who else? Maybe Atlanta and New England? Make fun of Flacco all you want for calling himself elite, but when 80% of the league would trade thier success over the last five years for his in a second, he's doing a lot of things right and deserves a big contract.

Why would the Ravens want to keep Flacco? He's 28, experienced, physically gifted, healthy and a proven winner. That's not what NFL teams are looking for in a franchise QB.

i get the need to keep him, but lets be honest he was very average this year and his whole career. You get in flaccos face he throws the ball into the dirt, he tore up denver to the right side which is where they said they wouldnt let him hurt them. That team runs through ray rice, even if hes an above average QB....$20 million a year is absurd for him. When you are asking for more money than brady, manning, or brees....you better be clearly in that class and he is not.

aaron rodgers will want a huge deal similar to brees, but hes not worried about it right now and isnt saying things like "damn you think the deal brees got is good, wait til im up in a few years im definitely gonna get more"

he probably will get more, but hes a master of the position and unanimously among the elite at the position.

i hope they lose so bad, ill be physically sick if they win....but flacco is a clone of tommy maddox in the body of derek anderson, he'll get the job done but will never ever ever ever be among the elite QBs...he throws a pretty ball, has a big arm, but any pressure makes him throw right into the ground. I get the need to keep him, even average QBs are hard to come by but i remember him saying "im dont see myself getting any cheaper as the season goes on" after the first game, and then he was painfully inconsistent for the whole year. Id want to cash in too, but joe flacco is not a player that scares me as a steeler fan, and hes put together a nice little string of victories against the steelers but ben has been hurt for about half of those games...not to mention the steelers have 2 superbowl appearances since theyve been "looking up at the ravens asses"

Hes still not the best QB in the AFC north, even if hes gonna be the highest paid...he deserves a big contract, but he doesnt deserve the biggest one, i guess thats just the nature of the business though..itll only be the biggest until the next guy is on deck

You say he will never be elite. But what if he wins the Super Bowl this year? We all love to call Eli elite because he won a Super Bowl. But he is a painfully inconsistent QB in the regular season. Too many interceptions. A history of the team going to long stretches of bad play. If the Ravens win on Sunday, what's the difference between Flacco and Eli? Both have been rather hit or miss in the regular season but fantastic in the playoffs. With a win on Sunday, Flacco is just a more physically gifted Eli and there is no reason to call one elite but not the other.

No one calls Eli elite other than Giants fans and people that don't understand what the word actually means. Non elite QB's can win the Superbowl. We don't have to call every QB that does elite.

Going to the playoffs every year and making the Super Bowl matter more than how many people label him "elite".

Giants fans are not the only ones to call him elite. Calling him elite is very common. Even if he isnt caled elite, he is routinely ranked between 5-7 whereas Flacco is called top ten by no one other than me and is usually in the 14-17 range. But in reality, except for a ring, the two are no diferent. In fact, going forward, I'd choose the younger, more physically gifted Flacco over Manning.
