McCourty was targeted just 14 times on 564 snaps at safety, allowing five catches (35.7%) for 60 yards and no touchdowns. He intercepted three of those passes and defended another, finishing with a quarterback rating against of 10.1, lowest among all safeties.
McCourty belongs on the outside or in deep coverage. I posted his coverage stats at safety earlier; only allowed one deep pass all season, with a passer rating against of under 11, easily the best of any safety in the league this year. He was effective at cornerback too though.
