Why can't the NFL just have an 18-WEEK season with 2 bye weeks so we can have the Super Bowl the day before President's day like it should be. It would play to the player safety theme.

It would also add more primetime games...

I don't want to wait that long for the combine, free agency, and the draft. They'll need to make the lead-up combines a bigger deal if they want to do this. I'm also not in favor of less time for rookies to integrate into their teams' systems. What would this do to minicamps and other OTAs?

So two more weeks of late primetime games with terrible matchups because teams are out of contention. By the time Week 17 starts, I'm very ready for the playoffs to begin and move beyond the riff raff.

I think the only players that are for the 18 game schedules are borderline NFL/practice squad players that know they will get more chances with a longer season and more players breaking down as the year goes on.

I'm not for the 18 games. Keep it at 16.

I'd like to think that those fringe players would prefer to have a 16 game schedule because they'd get more opportunities with preseason action and have a greater shot of other teams seeing what they can do on film.

I wouldn't mind that. Later start pushes everything back, and now have SB sunday with Monday off. People don't have to go to work the next day. NFL plaza or experience can last another day if people are flying in from far away. Towns and hotels can maximize profits, and all the major networks can debut new pilots for shows. Existing shows can play new episodes as well to drive up ratings.

That's what this is about. It's all about the 18 game season. Its coming. It's a matter of when, not if.

Yep. Roger the Benevolent thinks an 18 game season will serve to help increase player safety.
