Bottom line: if you think it was a good move for the Chiefs to give up #34 and a pick next year, you're a braindead ******* moron.

Umm...yes it is. The value in the top 10 is actually lacking, but the depth into round 3 is great.

Smith only attempted 27 passes in the middle of the field in 2012. He attempted 114 sideline passes. He completed 69% of those 114 passes with 8.4 YPA, nine touchdowns and only two interceptions. That is a 113.8 passer rating. Try again

Comparing the top 25 at each position, to last years, 2011, 2010, 2009, this draft is AVERAGE.
It's not super deep like some want to claim.
It's better in some areas and worse in others.

Nice catch.... way to hit him with some facts.
Who said that anyway?
I love those fake fans who pretend that they know it all and just throw out schit like that when someone (like you here) can easily shove it down their throats back at them as bullschit.

You're right. I don't think Alex Smith is very good. That's the whole point of why I feel this is a terrible decision.

In a division with Phillip Rivers and Peyton Manning, the Chiefs think they can win with Alex Smith.

Props to them if they pull it off, but common sense tells me the odds are against them.

So let's stop that nonsense right now.

And secondly, you can't just look at the numbers and assume Smith is any good, which is a concept that's pretty foreign to you. Smith doesn't throw it deep, he doesn't throw it outside the hash marks. He's been an awful qb for 80% of his long career. His own damn coach tried to replace him numerous times and the second he had a chance to, he did.

Why would you ignore all of this and assume he's a good option? Bc he rode the bus on a loaded team? How is that a good model of success? You know how much harder it is to maintain success using that model?

I'm not banging the table for any qb option in this draft in particular. I don't know enough about any of them to comment. But you have to at least TRY to succeed with one.

Moving forward with Smith is not the answer. At least drafting a qb can potentially be the answer, even if they fail.
He outplayed Eli, so I would cut it out with the "he played terrible" crap because it isn't true. He got pressured constantly and he played a decent game, and those fumbles did hurt their offense. New York doesn't win the game like that if they don't recover the last fumble.

And Alex hasn't been AWFUL in a long time, so that's a load of crap. He was averageish for a couple of years before Harbaugh, and became above average last season with him. Yes, they looked for replacements and yes they did replace him, but that doesn't make him a bad QB.

Also, there's a difference between taking a risk on a QB, and just plain taking a QB because you don't have one. If Reid doesn't like Geno (hell, I don't), then he shouldn't force himself to take him because HE MIGHT be decent.

Alex Smith has outplayed Rivers for two years running.

He has a pretty damn good RB there, so I think he can manage. Also, I don't see how being a better QB has anything to do with their defenses, but whatever. Rivers has looked like a mediocre QB for the last two years, Alex Smith has simply been better.

He has looked better because of the team around him. That was my point, and it was a pretty easy one to follow.

The Chiefs aren't as talented as the 49ers on either side of the ball. That much is evident. He isn't going to come here and turn this team into a SB contender. In that sense it is a waste.

Iím confused.

First and foremost, the timing is terrible. It seems like the Chiefs were bidding against themselves. Work the process. Donít surrender the leverage of his April bonus deadline. The Niners positioned themselves as content to keep Smith as a backup, but it was clear that he wanted out and San Francisco wanted to free up some cap space. He was going to be traded. The Chiefs just let the Niners dictate the terms. Who were their competitors? The Browns? Doubtful. Chudzinski has stressed his desire to run a vertical offense. Smith doesnít fit that profile. His tie to Cleveland was a fleeting offensive coordinator from a half-decade ago. Not to mention, the Browns donít have a second-round pick. The Cardinals? Even more doubtful. The Niners donít want to send a competent quarterback to their division rival. It just doesnít make sense. Thereís no incentive to making the move right now.

Second, it seems the Chiefs intend to make a lateral Ė at best Ė move at the top of the draft. Unless Albertís medical is concerning, or his agent is demanding an outrageous amount, thatís squandering a chance to improve the team. The Chiefs had a good pair of bookend tackles in-place. There were other areas that needed attention. Even if trading for Smith was the centerpiece of the off-season, the Chiefs still had a shot to upgrade two positions if Albert re-signed. Instead, the Chiefs upgraded at quarterback and Ė again, at best Ė pushed at offensive tackle.

Third, if trading a second-round pick was inevitable, it would make sense to explore the Nick Foles avenue. I donít believe he fits into Philadelphiaís vision under Chip. If Reid liked what he saw, and felt comfortable with continued development, he could offer the Eagles a positive return on their investment. I donít see the Eagles turning that down. With that pick, Chip might be able to get E.J. Manuel as his own project or fill another need. And Foles is an easier sell to the fans in KC. At least itís a gamble on upside. Itís not betting on the safer option.

If the Chiefs donít use the cap space that was earmarked for Albert to bring another big-time free agent into the fold, it will be a rough start to the Reid era.

He's 29, not 38. It isn't a waste if it works out, which it very well could. Or maybe the front office can listen to their fans again, and draft a workout warrior bust like they did last year.

When Alex Smith is terrible, and KC is ashes.... Then you have my permission to die.

Christ, are you really this dense? Since when is ANY draft pick a bust after one year? And if you actually watched a single Chiefs game you'd know that Poe played pretty well. Instead you'd rather sit here spewing ******** which you know nothing about.

Keep on keepin on Brodeur.

Keep on keepin on Brodeur.
I did watch a few Chiefs games, despite how painful they were collectively, because they were on. And Poe played one good game from what I remember, with several games highlighting his invisiblity involved.

I never liked Poe for that point, and I think Alex Smith is getting unnecessary flack.

And apparently Smith will be their guy for the next few years. Just watch this work with Smith making three Pro Bowls within five years. It will be fun to bring this thread back up.
