I don't think it's a skill as much as it is a direct result of playing style and in slightly smaller sense, athletic ability. Guys that attack the basket and play in the post will always have the most FTA's. So his skill is attacking the rim and playing amongst bigs, not necessarily drawing fouls.

Which makes them more efficient. Getting to the line is a skill, it's what made Corey Maggette an above average player for several years.

Yes it makes them more efficient and yes the actual shooting of the basketball from the free throw line is a skill. Having the whistle blown in your favor is not a skill and it depends too much on the "objective" opinion of a referee, when we all know certain players get much more respect from referees than others do, and when the NBA sends memos to refs before games telling them what to look for in particular.
The fundamental aspect of it we agree on. Yes shooting a lot of free throws at a high percentage makes you a more efficient scorer. I just don't agree that it's a "skill", like something you can train for, when a huge chunk of it depends on how the referees are calling the game that night.

I just gave you an example of why it's a skill. No ref is going to give respect to a punk Corey Maggette on an awful Clippers team.

And that just goes to his playing style.. Maggette was known as a slasher, pretty much all he was good at. He was smart enough to exploit that for multiple NBA contracts.

Metsox i like you but you're way off here. Getting to the line is absolutely a skill.. Getting a step on your opponent and being athletic or crafty enough to put them in bad position makes it more likely that you're going to get fouled. Harden is great at that.

We really are disagreeing just on how to label that, so whatever it's no big deal. Not like i'm adamant about it not being considered a skill.

It makes me sad to see the large part of Cousins' younger years go to waste with Keith Smart and the Kings. This team is so sad i almost wish we'd trade all our guys to places where they'd have more chances to succeed.

We'll take 'Reke for Louis Amundson.

We don't even have Lou Amundsen anymore, so that would be quite the trick.

Ugh, Cousins would be perfect for the Wolves, seeing as how Love already does the outside things in that offense that Smart is stupidly making Cousins do in Sacramento. That way you could just stick Cousins down in the block where he is most efficient, and away from playing at the elbow facilitating the offense where he's susceptible to falling in love with his jumper.
Also, i'm patting myself on the back for pointing out the crappiness in Smart's gameplanning a few weeks before Zach Lowe did in one of his columns.

Whoever ends up being the 4th best player in the draft, probably. Cause they're the Kings.

If the Kings don't go for Trey Burke, they lose.

Draft sites have Marcus Smart and MCW ahead of Burke.
Some funny **** right there.

Trey Burke will be inconsistent as **** in his rookie year. Count on that..
I like this Michigan team so i've watched a lot of their games past 2 seasons - he just is to up and down as scorer for me. And if shot is off, he kinda goes non existent for the whole game.

This is not uncommon. Players get drafted for the future they could have. For the inconsistencies he'll display, he'll show flashes of why he was drafted. That's what you look for.

He's a great passer and doesn't turn the ball over. He will be fine his first year.

To be completely honest, i haven't watched much college hoops this season so i'm not fully caught up on my scouting yet. Though like Brodeur mentioned, i'm hearing a ton of good things about Trey Burke as a PG.

Funny, the Kings have actually been really good drafters these past years despite getting ass railed by the lottery balls every year. Cousins ended up being the best player of his draft and we got him at 5 (though you can make an argument for Paul George), Tyreke Evans was ROTY, Jason Thompson turned out very well for a 12th pick big man, Kevin Martin was drafted at the bottom of the first, Isaiah Thomas was the last pick of the whole draft, Jimmer is turning the corner, and becoming a solid player, and we had Thomas Robinson.
The Kings are the lolKings because of the dumbass, broke owners we have, the idiot GM and the incompetent, lameduck head coach. It isn't due to a lack of talent.

Paul George is definitely better than Cousins is. So is healthy John Wall.
