If you could have one player?
Out of the following to start a team who would it be?
Barry Sanders
Jerry Rice
Lawrence Taylor
Dieon Sanders
(sigh, it's the offseason)

I voted for Primetime. Possibly the greatest athlete to ever play this game.

I went with Deion because he makes a impact on Defense and Special Teams.

Jerry Rice
I'd have the greatest WR of all time and he'd play significantly more years than the other players.

Primetime.
Shutdown Corner and Dangerous Special Teams.
Can find a RB/WR/Pash Rusing LB much easier.

LT changed the way the game is played.
LT played on a different level than any other defensive player in NFL history. LT easily.

It's sad that LT and Deion are getting all the votes. If you add Deions INTs to LTs sacks, you still have a number that is 20 short of the number of TDs Rice scored. It must be uncool to like Rice or something. Perhaps he should stop being such a nice guy to increase his street cred.

Positional value hurts Barry and Rice here. The Lions of course had the choice between Barry and Deion in the '89 draft.

Based strictly on my team's needs, more help on defense, I would choose LT slightly over Deion.
DOes a great pass rush benefit your secondary more, or does an airtight secondary help average pass rushers get to the QB??

I picked Barry because I had to. I think in today's game LT's habit would be front page news. But you really can't go wrong.

This.
For those of us who got to see LT in his prime, this isn't even close. It's LT by a mile.

For those that say Jerry Rice, I'll say this: He clearly was a dominant force and the greatest WR of all time. But at the same time, we've seen players reach his level of excellence. Moss in his prime was arguably better than Rice, Rice just did it longer and had better work ethic. Megatron is a guy who is a monster mismatch in today's game.
Michael Irvin was a force on the outside etc. We've seen guys who came close. They weren't Rice, but they weren't all that far off either.
Nobody came even close to LT. You can make a case for Deion for a similar reason, but LT was just on a different planet.

I voted for LT and it was an easy vote here.
But did you watch Derrick Thomas from about 1989-1994 or so?
He played the position like LT did.
DT was unfuqingbelievable getting after the QBs.
It's just that he was in Kansas City and not a great team.
