49ers have 12 picks, as you illustrated. They are also expected to get three compensatory selections.

Their gain was Mario Manningham. They lost Joshua Morgan, Adam Snyder, Blake Costanzo and Madieu Williams.

Brandon Jacobs, Randy Moss, Perrish Cox, and Chilo Rachal (vet minimums) do not factor into the compensatory equation.

That's a ridiculous haul of draft picks for Baalke who does a good job anyway. They almost have two drafts worth of picks in one. I still have no idea how they got the additional 3rd, 5th, and 6th.

So...

Atlanta
San Francisco
Tampa Bay

Carolina?
Cleveland?
Denver?
Philly?
Tennessee?
Indy?
Jacksonville?

I can't place him. I think San Fran might be playing the media though.

Via NFL.com says 49ers are denying trade rumors for Revis.

That's just standard Martin Hurney draft strategy- trade future higher picks for picks now. It's kind of like bragging about selling crack to an addict. Although admittedly Frank Alexander was one of the few times he got that strategy right.

The Jets are a clown show and a pathetic organization. This move makes no sense for them.

The rumor is a 2nd and 3rd. A 2nd and 3rd for a HOF CB. Good job Jets. You idiots.

Even if you get a 1st and a 2nd round pick for Revis, you'll be lucky if 1 of the 2 picks winds up being a Pro Bowler let alone a HOFer.

And the thing that bothers me the most is this ridiculous notion that they can't afford Revis, they have to rebuild?

Oh really? Well what are they gonna rebuild with? Draft picks. Draft picks are cheap.

And they won't be good until they get a quarterback anyway. And guess where they'll get that quarterback? That's right. The draft.

So that rookie qb is gonna be dirt cheap on a rookie deal for 4 years. So during those 4 years you pay Revis and by the time that rookie qb's deal comes up, Revis is old and you can move on.

But why would you get rid of a HOFer now for 2 draft picks? It's idiotic.

And I'm also sick of this ridiculous notion that the Jets have no offensive talent. That's a bunch of bullcrap. Sanchez sucks, so you don't get to see the talent. They have Holmes, Keller is a solid TE, Hill is developing, Kerley is a good slot WR, they have plenty of weapons. Their OL isn't that bad at all. So theyre gonna lose 2 guards. Big ****. Guard is a guard is a guard. Very replaceable.

And the defense is pretty good too.

So all they really need is a quarterback. You put a real qb on that Jets team as is and they're 10-6.

So this whole rebuilding crap is ********. They just need a quarterback. And they can rebuild while keeping and paying Revis.

It's so easy to turn a team around nowadays, you can go from terrible to very good in a matter of 1 or 2 years. You don't need to get rid of Revis to rebuild, and getting rid of him for 2 draft picks won't help you anyway.

This is what bad organizations do, and why bad organizations stay as bad organizations.

The Jets are pathetic, and they're gonna stay pathetic. They're letting emotion get in the way of business. Bc Woody is upset that he has to keep paying Revis.

Hey genius, if you weren't such a ***** and called his bluff 2 years ago you wouldn't be in this mess to begin with.

The Jets are a joke.

They are going to lose him after this year anyways, if you are in rebuilding mode might as well get something in return.

Agreed, the JEts are stupid to trade him. Top CBs age very well, Revis easily has 5 or 6 strong seasons left.

bigbluedefense, I agree with your points, but you could have toned down the "Jets are idiots" talk. We all know that you know your football, but that makes you sound unintelligent.

I think the Jets should be shopping Cromartie. He's a proven #1 corner and could probably be traded for a late 3rd-4th round pick. Then they don't have to worry about investing too much money in one position while they rebuild.

This has Woody written all over it. He's okay with paying Mark franchise QB money, but won't pay Revis? He's arguably the greatest Jet in history. Pay him what he wants so he retires in green, and then we don't have to worry about corner for the next 5 years.

It's going to be hard to support the team if they trade him.

The Jets are idiots though.

I don't think anyone has a problem paying Revis, but then he gets hurt or cries for a new contract and holds out every two years. Why doesn't he just sign massive two year deals if he is going to piss and moan after two years?

Revis' impact isn't nearly what people want to pretend it is anyway. Is it worth signing a 130 million dollar deal just so he can cry and skip training camp when someone gets a 130.1 million dollar deal?

I've heard a lot of Jets fans talk about this. The holdouts definitely rub us the wrong way.

Cromartie's brilliant play this year may have made Revis seem expendable, but I don't think that's the case. He's one of the best cover corners in history, and the Jets defense depends on that type of player.

One rumble I've been hearing is The skins cutting Hall. If they did that would they be a player? The Jets could use a Passrusher and Rak for Revis makes sense fore each team.

Thanks for this. I laughed at the difference in the top and bottom deals, Carolina trading a future high draft pick away where have I seen that before smh. Miami made the same deal and did it with a 6th thrown in next year, and they had the higher pick in the draft.

I'm also getting sick of Revis too. Cry and do your holdout thing, get a massive deal, get hurt, then when you play exactly like your contract is paying you to do, you need to hold out again because another defensive player makes more even though he just tore his ACL.

Then he acts so dumb about it like he was "speechless", well idiot you think they might be fine with keeping you if you didn't want a holdout and more money every few years? No team wants to deal with that I don't care who you are. Aaron Rodgers has been criminally underpaid for 2 years now, and Revis wants more money just 2 years after getting 32 million guaranteed? While rehabbing an injury?

He is/was about to get paid big time next year anyway, why would you want to stage another holdout then act like a disconnected *** in the media talking about how bad you want to retire a Jet. Of course you would, as long as the reup you every few years you would love nothing more then to retire there.

The guys calling the Jets dumb need to kick it. This team drafted the guy when 14 other teams didn't. They put a defense on his back. They made him a millionaire.

Do they want to trade him? NO they don't. But they can't keep him. He wants too much money. And the Jets have too many holes on its team right now.

So clearing cap space and getting picks in return is the only way. They should go head in like Bill Parcells. Trade Revis, Trade Cro... trade anyone that will get you top value for picks this year and next. Turn over this whole roster. You want at least 10 picks in the next two drafts. Plus clear of cap room. After some years of good drafting then make your move for FA's in their prime.

Because 2-year deals don't have huge signing bonuses. By signing big longterm deals he gets a huge signing bonus, and then when he gets to year 3 and sees that his base pay is only $6.2 million he forgets all about how he agreed to a small salary that year to alleviate his cap number for the team. He also forgets that the signing bonus was supposed to be prorated over the term of the contract, so he already got $4 million for year 3. And he forgets that last year he got $9 million. It really is true what they say about cornerbacks...the really good ones have a short memory:-)

Because it is. If that's really the trade, that's just dumb.

edit: I looked it up. The 49ers also picked up pick 103 in the 2012 draft in that deal, which makes a lottttttt more sense.

The trade was Miami's 4th (103) + Miami's 2012 and 2013 6th rounders for SF's 4th (97). He just forgot to add that pick, no big deal.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports there's already a rumour brewing in certain NFL circles that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been crunching the numbers and putting together an offer to bring Revis to Philadelphia.

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...196645611.html

The Eagles will save $11m once they release Asomugha and they have a high enough draft pick at the top of the 2nd rd (35th overall) to entice the Jets.
