Obviously a young Ravens fan, your older brethren would be ashamed.

He's been doing it for a while now Florio did a piece on how full of crap he is like a year ago. It's just a guy, not a valid source. He doesn't even do his research to see if a player would be a real fit. How exactly does he think the Cowboys are gong to manage to pay Wes Welker? The easiest way to know he's full of crap? He has like 150 rumors on his site already. Everyone else has 2 or 3. Jerkwad's even got Tampa trying to re-sign Aqib Talib, lol.

Bears are not in on Levitre, Winston, or any high-priced wideouts, from what I've read. So far, REAL sources have them negotiating with two players: OG Brandon Moore and OG Ramon Foster.

NE needs another wideout, especially if Welker walks. The 49ers just drafted one in the first round though. You guys can just use him.

Ravens provide Boldin with an ultimatum: take a pay cut or get cut

Quote:
Anquan Boldin has a decision to make in the next three days: Take a pay cut or get cut.

That’s the word from Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com, who reports that the Ravens want Boldin to renegotiate the $6 million base salary he is set to earn in 2013, and that if he declines, he will be released before Tuesday’s start of the free-agent signing period.

The Ravens freed up some cap space for 2013 when they were able to sign Joe Flacco to a long-term extension instead of putting the franchise tag on him, but the defending Super Bowl champions are still in perilous cap shape and won’t be able to keep everyone they want to keep. Now that the Flacco deal is done, linebacker Dannell Ellerbe is viewed as the next-highest priority, and Boldin may have to go if the Ravens are going to have enough cap space to re-sign Ellerbe.
Boldin said on Pro Football Talk shortly after the Super Bowl that he’d retire if the Ravens cut him, but he is apparently re-thinking that.

The 32-year-old Boldin led the Ravens in both catches and receiving yards, both in the regular season and the postseason. If he goes, he’d be a significant loss in Baltimore.

That's classy. The guy carries the **** out of the offense in the playoffs, they reward Flacco with a ridiculous contract, and then threaten to cut him.

I'd tell the Ravens to pound sand. If they cut him they need to find a replacement because you can't run a consistent offense with 2 deep threats as your primary receivers. They might be able to sign someone, but that would involve an artificially low cap # this year, which going forward isn't good for a team that is already squeezed.

FWIW :

Quote:
After signing CB Dunta Robinson, the Chiefs are no longer interested in CB Sean Smith.
Robinson is believed to be getting starter money from the Chiefs. With Brandon Flowers also getting paid as a starter, giving Smith top-of-market money no longer makes sense. The Eagles, 49ers, Buccaneers, and Lions have all been rumored to have interest in Smith.
I'd take Smith in SF but at the right price, I highly doubt we would overpay for him.

What would make more sense then? Not signing Flacco and giving a 32 year old WR more money? You can't pay everybody, and I don't know why people are making a big deal out of this, every team with a top level QB has to make it work and fit everyone else under the cap.

Not forcing a guy that was essential to your Super Bowl to take a pay cut or threatening to release him.

Yeah, and Flacco really needed 20.1 million dollars a year, it's not like Boldin bailing his ass out on multiple occasions inked him a fat paycheck as well as Moore sucking.

Apparently McKelvin's deal is with 7.5 million guaranteed. I'm gonna wait until I see the true numbers of the deal in a year to year salary because if its extremely low in the first two years I wont mind.

So you mean to tell me that great QB's actually have weapons that help them out by catching the ball? That's news to me. The cap situation is what it is, you just watched Flacco go through another brilliant post season run and win a SB, he got what he deserves. That's all there is to that, if you thought he was going to get any less then you don't understand how timing of contract negotiations work.

You think the it's fair to Dumervil that the Broncos are asking him to make a paycut, or James Harrison? I don't know why people are acting like any of this is some new procedure. For some reason you are in this fantasy where you think they were going to sign Flacco on some modest, generous contract because his regular season stats aren't that good, and then keep Boldin, Kruger, Reed, and everyone else. I'm sure they would love nothing more then to do that as would every other team love to keep all their players.

I think it's stupid that the Ravens are threatening to cut one of their best players on offense after giving a good but not amazing quarterback the highest contract ever, and expecting him to succeed going down the line with Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones.

Also, where did I say that I think they were going to sign him for a modest contract? Way to put words in my mouth. In fact, I never even really said anything about Flacco besides they paid him a ton prior to this post.

They overpaid at quarterback and are now taking away his best weapon, one whom I highly doubt they would have won the Super Bowl without, and it's not like they'd be paying a ****** receiver a glorified contract as he sucks towards the end of his career. Boldin is still a great receiver and has earned that contract, releasing him is stupid in my opinion.

So since it's obvious you don't understand how contract negotiations and contracts go, how much did he deserve to be paid then? Since he was overpaid. And your comment "good but not amazing QB", could be applied to Ben Roethlisberger too. You choose to use that way of describing him because your judging him off of his regular season play, not playoffs. I choose to value and judge a QB off of how he plays in the post season.

And what point are you trying to make by talking about how Boldin bailed him out, or how they needed him so bad? So when an elite QB wins the SB or has any post season success, it's all because of the QB? It's never because they had a WR or TE make some clutch catches or score TD's? When has that ever happened before? You continually bring that up, of course Boldin played well, but 100% of the time at least 1 skill position player has to have played well for the QB to of won the game. So trying to discredit Flacco by talking about what Boldin did makes little to no sense, Flacco's last 2 playoffs speak for themselves.

Unbelievable.
They'd better get Chad Rinehart's agent on the phone if they're just telling Levitre to kick rocks.

Why are you getting personal exactly? I understand how contract negotiations go, I am a business major and understand market value, I am not ******* stupid. Just because that is how they go, doesn't mean I cannot think they paid a large premium for him based on his overall skill set, even if their hand was forced.

I never even took a shot at you at any point nor did I say Flacco didn't play well in the post season, this whole thing was about Boldin getting ****** over because they had to give Flacco such a large contract even though Boldin was a HUGE reason for Flacco's success in the post season if not the biggest reason for his success.

Where do I discredit Flacco and say he sucks or anything? Once again, I simply stated that Boldin was a huge reason for Flacco's success (go back and read this statement again because it has seemed to elude you as you are more concerned with getting angry and not reading anything I actually say while constantly questioning my intelligence).

Again, Boldin was a huge success, and they are planning on getting rid of him. If they plan on being successful as a team moving forward they better find another target that Flacco can trust to make catches in tight coverage and move the chains the way Boldin did. Currently they do not have anyone else on the roster that can step up and do what Boldin did, and I think it will show early for the Ravens.

Also, without Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Boldin ETC. I don't see this team being nearly as good as they were last year in one of the toughest divisions in football.

But hey, I guess allocating one sixth of your total cap space to one player and not keeping his favorite target is a recipe for success today.
