Good signings so far. Bennett is a solid all-around guy who can help out in the red zone and especially on 3rd down. He is capable of stretching the field. Apparently, the Giants fans here pretty miffed about him getting away.
Bushrod knows the blocking schemes, he's familiar with Kromer.
The best part about these two signings is that we don't have to reach for any second-tier tackles or a tight end. I would still like for us to draft some O-line and maybe a development guy at tight end.

Didn't know that Michael Bennett was his brother. Maybe we can get him for cheap.

We don't have to reach for a second tier tackle in the draft. Instead, we signed a second-tier tackle to quite a hefty contract. Sure Bushrod is better than Webb, but 6 million dollars a year better? Not even close. Eric Winston would have been a much better signing. A better player and probably cheaper too.

Bushrod can be a franchise left tackle in the right system.

At this point, I think that the Bears are going to trade up for one of the DTs or DEs that fall into the second half of the first round.

I could see them trading up for Shariff Floyd or Datone Jones.

Bushrod is in the same system he's been in (same OL coach) and wasn't a franchise LT there. I'm not upset with the signing, as this was probably the best the Bears could realistically do without taking the Jake Long risk.

Hopefully, his poor 2012 can be attributed to the drama in NO and the extreme number of pass attempts and passing situations his team was in. Because he looked like he was really turning the corner in 2011 to becoming a pretty good LT. A big key is that he doesn't miss games and doesn't commit very many penalties, both of which has been a problem on the Bears OL the last few years (along with lack of talent).

Much more likely that we trade down. Our two biggest needs (guard and linebacker) can be filled in the 2nd-4th rounds, we're severely lacking in depth at almost every position, and we're already missing our 3rd round pick from the Marshall trade.

I'd like to trade back into the 2nd and pick up another 3rd rounder. We don't need a 1st round guy in this draft.

I heard a big key why there were so many problems was Kromer not being able to focus on the Line and being more focused on the interim interim job. He apparently improved at the end of the year

I agree, Bushrod is a solid LT who suffered through the Payton suspension like a lot of NO players did. In one swoop, the Bears also got a solid RT in Webb and probably got a solid OG in Carmini, making the Bear's OL one of the best in the NFL. I think your offense just got a whole lot better.

I don't see Chicago trading up, this DT draft class is very, very deep with ton's of talent. The Bears can stay where they are and get a very solid prospect.

We really need to trade down. An ideal scenario would allow us to trade down about 20 picks and pick up a high 3rd round pick.

Then we could do something like this:

36th pick- Larry Warford, G, Kentucky
50th pick- Kevin Minter, LB, LSU
65th pick- Arthur Brown, LB, Kansas State

Or maybe just draft one linebacker and then use the other pick for a speedy receiver, or some depth at defensive tackle, cornerback, or offensive line.

Either way, the point is that we really need another pick or two to fill all of our needs, and thankfully we don't have a huge need that requires a 1st round pick after making those two big signings.

By who? Kiper doesn't have any of them in the 1st round. Walterfootball doesn't have any of them before any of our picks.

It would be somewhat ideal, but it's not too unrealistic.

Its pretty unrealistic. I doubt Minter or Brown are there with those picks.

Yeah, I think Minter and Brown will go a lot higher than that, they are early second rounders at the worst and possible 1st rounders.
I do think the Bears will go defense since so many of your defensive stars are aging, the offense looks pretty solid to me.

Kiper is an idiot. There are many more people in the NFL Draft Community than Mel Kiper. Arthur Brown is the best 4-3 LB in the entire draft. He is most likely a 1st round pick. I would not be upset if the Bears took Arthur Brown at #20 come draft day.

Kiper is one of the most accurate mock drafters around. Hating on him was a cliche 10 years ago.

Urlacher gone.

http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story...brian-urlacher

Now I'd definitely like to see a trade down. Snag an LB with 2/3 of our first picks.

Arthur Brown at 65 is a pipe dream.
PrinceFielder28 tells me he won't be there at #26 when we pick.
I'd love him too.

Arthur Brown may not get past the Rams at 22. I'd bet a lot of money that he won't get past the Ravens at 32. If I'm the Bears, I look to trade down, but stay in front of the Ravens. Then take whoever is on the board between Brown, Ogletree and Minter. Hopefully, a pass rusher falls and Atlanta gets antsy to give up their 3rd along with swapping 1sts.

I'm sure the Bears will add an experienced LB to the team before the draft though. Thinking someone flexible to play MLB or SLB depending on what the Bears are able to do in the draft.

Now I'd definitely like to see a trade down. Snag an LB with 2/3 of our first picks.
Very bittersweet. Urlacher is not the player he once was, nowhere close. There is a high likelihood that whoever replaces him will provide more production. But losing a guy you grew up watching, one of your favorite players, is always rough. I always want the Bears to win the Super Bowl, but if they don't, I'm hoping whatever team he goes to does because he is an all-time great and I'd love to see him win a ring.

DJ Williams and Tom Zbikowski were recent signings. The local boy is a nice depth signing, Williams is a nice buy low option.

The Bears have a contest starting with a chance to be able to read off their 4th round pick:

Just signed up! I'd be pissed if I won and then they traded away their 4th rounder. Would I get to announce the 5th?
