No they'll work something out. The guy who owns the O's is a big ass so I'm sure he's playing a major role in holding it up.

I'd be stoked at that signing. Always been a fan. Can play DE, UT on passing downs, and can block kicks.

Orioles and Ravens share parking I think, don't think it can happen.

They do, but R.G suggested in a presser that the game can be in the morning or afternoon, and they can make the NFL game later like 8:30 or 9. He put pressure on MLB commish by saying how it would be a great day for the both fans and something memorable. However, Bud Selig, didn't relent or even try to work anything out.

Would definitely be cool for Baltimore but they are just playing it conservative if I had my guess.

Maybe he'll just have a two-back set and either hand it off to Forte or Bush. Of course, while no world-beater, Cutler's fairly athletic. My lasting memory of him from this past season is hearing that he proposed via text.

Ravens opening on the road is a horrible idea. The champions have opened their following season at home on Thursday night for the last several years and even though im a 49ers fan, I dont think the Ravens should have to play a road game. PFT suggested the Dolphins in Miami which would make the most sense for various reasons but even that should be an afterthought. Do the Orioles play on Wed or Fri night? If not, NFL should just move the game to Wed or Fri.

The NFL was able to open up the season on a Wednesday this past season, and with the Orioles being on the road that night it would make sense to go ahead and just go with that plan again.

Andy Reid plans on using Jamaal Charles out of the backfield as a receiving option. I never got why Charles was taken out on 3rd downs last year.

JC is going to put up huge #'s next year.

In the NFL, you really only have 2 legit contracts. Your rookie contract and your 2nd contract. After that (minus elite talent) you're not gonna get paid much the 3rd time around, and won't even be wanted the 4th time around.

That's why the rookie wage scale screwed over a lot of players. They thought that would mean more money for veteran FAs, but that's not true. Your value as an older player is based on age and production. The rookie wage scale just saves owners money, it doesn't do anything for veteran players.

+1000.

The NFLPA gets routinely bent over by the owners and they don't even know it.
The rookie wage scale was supposed to push more money towards contracts to sign proven veteran performers. But I haven't seen a bump in the amount FA vets are paid as a whole.
If you're a vet who's 29-30+ years old, most teams it seems like try to low ball you into signing the cheapest deal possible.

Except, IF we presume the overall cap was not going to really increase for 3 years regardless, then if the old rookie rules were in place the vets would be getting EVEN less. The rookie contract limits and the overall cap numbers are independent.

This is why the owners are billionaires who got where they are. They know how to work deals in their favor and get what they want. Really shrewd businessmen to deal with in negotiations.

I didn't even know Shane Lechler was available. Very underrated signing by the Texans.

Dwan Edwards reportedly going to re-sign with the Panthers after all.

I don't get why a lot of people are up in arms with MLB, they don't have to do anything, not their fault. Move the game, okay both Baltimore and Chicago play night games before, and arrive very late/early morning in Baltimore, and then you want them to play a morning/afternoon game?
When it could be easily avoided by just scheduling the Ravens to either the Sunday Night game, or one of the Monday Night games. Problem solved.

Because it's Oakland. They haven't made the wisest decisions in regards to their football organization in quite some time.

Any same Raider fan knew Lechler was gone this offseason at the beginning of last season. Lechler made it an easy choice after the crappy season he had. I wish him luck with Houston. He was one of the few bright spots over the past 5 years.

Ladies and gentlemen, your 2013 Chicago Bears!
Trestman said that there's some read-option in his new playbook. He never said that Cutler would be running it. He never said that the plays would be called. All we know is that it's there.

For all we know, Cutler could start the season as someone else's QB.

The rookie wage scale just saves owners money, it doesn't do anything for veteran players.
there is more money available for vets, but it doesnt go to vet RBs or DTs or DBs.

It goes to QBs, and thats it really. Every other position has a more sudden fall off with age because those guys lose a step and then need to go, so no good gm is going to invest a hell of a lot in any of those guys.

So the rookie cap helped a few QBs at the top make more cash in contract value (money that they may not see depending on performance) as they got older and left everyone else with the status quo. It also means there are no more rookie deals driving up the value of vets. as usual, the devil jerry jones comes out ahead.
