I don't really see how this is on Denver. He isn't worth the 12 million he was due and they weren't going to pay it. Hell, even the 8 million they agreed upon was well above market value. It's Dumervil and his former agent who didn't get the paperwork signed on time.

Got less than Kruger, Kruger and Ellerbe got a combined 75 mil over 5 years, 35 mil for Dumervil definitely is an impact signing the Ravens need, they lost a ton of players but getting Dumervil, Canty, and Spears, and having 12 draft picks to toy with will definitely help the Ravens re-tool.

Dumervil wasn't worth nearly what he was making, and it wasn't them that screwed it up. I think they're better off in the long run not having that contract. Probably not better off for 2013, though. It IS a good signing for the Ravens, I'd say. He should have been a 3-4 LB the whole time.

Bears news: Bears signed James Anderson. James Anderson sucked pretty hard last season but used to really, really not suck. Maybe he doesn't suck with better D line in front of him. If he's making the minimum, it's a pretty good deal. You can still expect a starting-caliber LB to be drafted, though.

Bears also signed Tom Zbikowski...and no one knows why, since we have about 7 safeties better in coverage than him. I get that's he's good on special teams, but so is 3/4 of our defense.

If they are making the vet minimum with nothing guaranteed, they can sign 100 guys for all it matters.

Actually it does. Bc these veteran signings eat up roster spots. And as much as you want to believe that they can get cut at any time, realistically they're going to make the team. So it could also result in passing on a guy in the draft bc there's no space for said player on the roster.

So long story short, the Bears front office hasn't exactly inspired confidence with a lot of their personnel moves lately.

Is Ayers still on the team? Is there any hope for the guy to break out or has that ship sailed?

Freeney can still rush the passer. For the right price I think he can be a solid addition.

regarding freeney, i don't think there's really any realistic cost that won't be a massive overpayment for a mediocre one down player.
Well, my next question is, with Dooms gone now, does Von move out of the SAM position in the base defense and out to rush end?

Bc I see Wolfe playing LE in the base and DT in the nickel, and Von obviously plays the edge in the nickel, but with Dumerville gone now why not put Von at End permanently?

And I'm curious where Ayers fits into all of this.

Freeney has a place in the nickel front. You'll play nickel 50% of the game, he won't be a 1 down player. Offer him a 3 year contract, where you can cut him easily after 1 or 2 years I don't see the harm in that.

They REALLY do not need to be ******* with Von Miller's position, especially since it'd require forcing him to bulk up. They should just draft a good DE. With how the draft looks to fall, there'll be at least one available at #28, and possibly as many as three.

You don't know what you're talking about. There are 19 guys that were on the 53 man roster last year that haven't/aren't being brought back. We've signed 7 new guys. Even assuming all seven make the roster, that's 12 extra spots for rookies, which would be an absurd amount for a team that's not rebuilding.

You could also have looked that up, or you could just keep talking like you have any idea about the Bears.

Why not put Von on the LOS though? He's just as good of a pass rusher as he is as a base LB, I rather have him rush and impact the game as a rusher as often as possible.

I love Wolfe as a 3 down player. Base LE in the 43, and DT in a nickel.

Doesn't matter how many open roster spots there are. You have a limited # of depth per position. If you fill that out with mediocre free agents you're not gonna draft players in those same positions. That's just how it is.

You're just in denial that your front office has made a ton of questionable moves the past 2 years.

Jesus......

How many linebackers does an average 4-3 team carry? 6 or 7? Look at the Bears roster and tell me how many linebackers there are guaranteed a roster spot.

OF COURSE it matters how many open roster spots there are. We've lost 19 guys. How the hell are we supposed to fill all of that depth? We're going to draft 19 guys?

Look at our salary cap.

I'm not a fan of Phil Emery. I don't think Jerry Angelo should have been fired, and have said as much on countless occasions. That said, when you have 15 roster spots to fill and you have 5 million dollars to do it with, you're going to end up signing a lot of vets to 1 year-vet minimum deals. It would stand to reason they aren't going to be the cream of the crop.

To be fair, I do like some of his moves. You desperately needed a LT, while I'm not a fan of the him he's still better than what you had. Bennett is a great 2 way TE. Not worth the price tag I don't think but a good player. You have a good WR core if you can add a speed guy. The offense should actually be decent this year.

But if he doesn't get his head out of his ass in the draft there could be trouble. I'm not a fan of his first draft, not a fan of his coaching choice. I feel like he's in over his head, trying too hard to go against the grain.

Cheap players don't have to be bad players. There's a lot of good players available for cheap. I just don't like the ones he's bringing in.

Bills seem to have a pretty strong interest in Fred Davis. Dined with the brass last night, visit scheduled for later in the week. We could certainly use a few more targets and I'd like the addition.

Agreed, he'd probably be reasonably priced and is a very solid TE.
