FYI, they sent the exact same contingent to several other Pro Days, including Matt Barkley's. They've been extremely active in both scouting pro days and inviting prospects for private workouts this year. They've invited Dion Jordan for private workouts twice.

So the fact that they had a lot of people at Geno's pro day really means nothing, in retrospect.

I think the "two guys" are Dion Jordan and Sharrif Floyd. If you look at what Pete Carrol Seahawks teams did and their new head coach is gonna build his team like that, it's probably Jordan, unless they like Floyd that much where he's clearly the superior prospect on their board. I definitely think it's one of those two.

They Draft Geno or Manuel The GM bought the Hype of Gabbert who had less than a 60% completion in college and also had a less than 60% completion in the NFL too.. Buy hey he had good mechanics and intangibles and all the attributes...

As a rule you don't pick right tackles with the second overall pick. Heck, you usually don't pick right tackles in the first round.

Now, Eric Fisher isn't necessarily just a right tackle, but he would be as long as Eugene Monroe is around, and Monroe is only 25.

I'm thinking Geno or Dion in the end. Geno most likely as I can't see KC taking him. Manuel is a wildcard though.

I fully believe this is where Geno Smith ends up. Let's face it, Gabbert isn't good; he's more of a career backup type.
Jacksonville is desperate to sell tickets and win ball games, Geno should be the pick and should start immediately

I would be surprised if they didn't take Geno Smith, and that would be my pick if I was the GM.

Spoilers: In terms of ticket sales they're the best team in Florida right now.

I see no way they draft Geno, zero chance IMO. Smith just isn't that good, I rank him around 18-25 as an overall prospect, so the best I could see for him is the Jets at #9, if he gets past the Jets, he'll fall like a ton of bricks.

IMO, any team that wastes a 1st rounder on a QB in this year's draft, will be in the market for another one in 2 years with a new GM at the helm.

"The Jaguars haven't had a winning season since 2007. Off the field, the Jags have struggled to fill EverBank Field, but they have enlisted some creativity to avoid blackouts. They've discounted and bought back tickets to guarantee sellouts, and they covered sections of the stadium with tarps to reduce capacity from more than 80,000 to 67,000."

People bring up the tarps so much, but the thing is that the stadium is honestly oversized for the market. At its full size of 76,867, Everbank is the fifth-largest stadium in the NFL. The stadium is mostly as big as it is so it can host events, not for the NFL games.

Even in its reduced size of 67,000, Everback has a higher capacity than a third of the stadiums in the NFL, including most notably Seattle's, Pittsburgh's, the stadiums that just opened in Arizona and Indianapolis, and even Soldier Field. Chicago has a population that dwarfs Jacksonville's, and yet Soldier Field is smaller.

This is really a different discussion entirely, though.

the way the new CBA is worded, there's a huge advantage to take a QB in the picks between 11-32. Something about how the 5th year is much more affordable. Obviously this isn't a concern when you are drafting Andrew Luck. but it could push Geno down. It is possible that a team like Miami trades with Jac for Fisher and they get Geno at 12.

Jaguars GM Dave Caldwell was recently quoted saying that he believes that, despite what some people might think, this is one of the deepest QB classes in years.

He's basically waving a giant flag that says "WE'RE DRAFTING A QB SOMEWHERE FROM THE SECOND TO FIFTH ROUND, NOT THE FIRST" here, and anyone who can't tell at this point is just blinding themselves.

They're not taking a right tackle second overall with all the other needs on that team, mainly pass rush and quarterback. They're trying to trade down.

I hate when Soldier Field is brought up by Jags fans. The Bears could sell 80k tickets each week no problem. The size of the stadium is not relevant. It's that small because the public funding and one of the cheapest leases in the NFL came with the condition that the new stupid spaceship-looking thing be built right on top of old soldier field. It'd have a lot more seats if they could have fit them in.

It's a special situation because the former Emperor of Chicago declared that it was to be done this way.

Dion Jordan is such a great scheme fit for the Jags, he'll do so much in Bradley's defense....at this point I'll be shocked if its not Jordon.

I hope they don't for the sake of their franchise but it's sounding like that's what they are leaning towards.

JT Jag is actually right about the Jags attendance. I've explained it before, but they are about 20th in attendance. Not great but for a team in a small market, very little tradition, no recent success, and very little hope, filling 95% of their stadium is very impresive. Compare it to the Redskins, whose attendence in a bigger market with the reigning Heisman trophy winner at QB, is quite a bit worse. This pick does not need to be used to "fill the seats." They are already full and only winning will get that extra 5% filled.

With that said, I'd take Geno.

I could see one of the OTs being the pick if:

1. Dion Jordan is inexplicably selected first overall
2. The Jaguars are somehow unable to trade down

That said, I think the Jaguars are shooting for Dion Jordan if they can't trade down, which they will try to do.

I still wouldn't touch any of the OTs even if Jordan was taken(personally, I don't really like him at all at #2, but whatever).
