Can we stop w the 3rd round crap? He is pretty much a consensus 2nd rounder. Yes, he was a reach but not more than a full round like some of you keep bi*ching about.

If you want to argue 64 to 92 then go ahead but drafting someone 31 when no one in his right mind has him anywhere near Round 1 ... again, if your wife went out and paid $5000 for a swing set that costs $2000 you would not feel the same way.

I think we also need to keep in mind that Pugh and long were pretty much consensus 2nd round guys too. OL was flying off the board. I don't think it's a guarantee Frederick is there at 47.

Travis Frederick!?!? The Wisconsin lineman who was considered a third-round prospect? There were other reaches in the first round, but this takes the cake. It seems like the Cowboys panicked with all of the guards flying off the board, which is the worst thing you can ever do in the NFL Draft. It's never been more obvious that Dallas needs a real general manager.

Sigh...

That's spot on. Pure panic. Could have been had at 47. In the slight chance he wasnt, Schwenke would have been. Or Warford or Winters.

Someone will be at 47.

So we pass on impact safeties, make a panic pick, and now the rest of the draft is ruined. Absolutely ruined.

What's next? A RB? A tier-3 safety? A WR? Tier-3 DL?

The whole thing is ruined by drafted out of panic and picking for need.

I repeat. I will NOT complain about interior OL help. Period.
I'm glad they actually addressed the OL because OL was the worst part of the team last year. Without knowing much about Frederick I can't get mad. Sure some guys aren't liking the reach, but if they have him rated high we'll have to wait and see. Maybe he's a smart guy in interviews. Garrett just said he likes how smart he is, so I guess that impressed them. Good thing I didn't watch college this year so I'm not pissed. lol They got OL in the first round, and I ******* hate Costa to begin with.

If true, why not take at 47? Why 31?

Why is it so hard for some of you to realize this was a bad pick. No way to slice it.

Charley Casserly "the only OL drafted I didn't have a first round grade on was Frederick. I had him as a 2nd and the Cowboys got worried because of the run on players"

What did JG say heading into this draft?

"When you draft for need you become a less talented team over time"

Well tonight they drafted for need. They ensured this will be a less talented team over time.

A reach is a reach.

Bennett, Felix, Spencer ..... list is pretty long.

Who was that TE we reached on in the 1990s when Novacheck went down??? Took a lumbering dolt to replace an athletic pass catcher

Exactly.

Mayock, Casserly, Jeremiah, Kurt Warner, any fan of another team, any unbiased observer knows this was a **** pick.

My brother, Dolphins fan - "wow, sorry bro"

My buddies, Bears and Chargers fans "lol, Burns are you still alive or did you eat a gun already"

And yet, once again, the Jerrah Jones nut huggers come on and say "you don't know!"

Whole world knows but these morons are still doubtful.

I guess 8-8 and one playoff win in 20 years is not enough.

It has to get worse.

I'm receiving word that Cowboys 1st round pick Travis Frederick finally finished running his 40 at the Combine.

LOL so sad...

I'm not going to call it a bad pick. If he starts at center for 10 years its not a bad pick.

I agree it was a reach but so was Pugh and long. They may have panicked a bit but the OL were going off the board.

The Bengals are going to take Cyprien at 37. That was their pick if it wasnt Eifert. Now they get both.

Because they didnt PANIC.

Best we can hope for is Swearinger now.

Good point.

I never liked Pugh, but I had to give him attention due to the guys putting together the mock rankings. He is a technical guy but he's too small and an underwhelming athlete. I can see him struggling in the NFL unless he gets a lot stronger.

Long for sure was graded as a 2nd rounder. Scouts Inc mock had us taking him in Round 2.

I agree it was a reach but so was Pugh and long. They may have panicked a bit but the OL were going off the board.
Pugh and Long had first round grades. They were smaller reaches than Frederick.

And you not calling it a bad pick because he could turn out ok is flawed logic.

Would you have called Lattimore a bad pick at 31? Mathieu? Duke Williams?

Yes, you would have.

Why? Because you could have selected another player at 31 and still gotten those other guys later.

Why is that such a hard concept to understand. It was a reach. Panic. BAD PICK.
