True, I mean you guys have Kiko Alonzo now. We might as well just fold as a franchise.

Fox 25 in Boston says that he's expected to be arraigned at around 2:00. Twitter is blowing up with rumors of this being a "no bail" situation. I don't know why rich people don't just cash out their bank accounts and leave the country when they have the chance.

I'd still be surprised if he actually did this. I mean, who is dumb enough to kill someone that you were just hanging out with, that has a million connections to you, then leave his body a mile away from your house out in the open. Not buried, not covered, not in a river, not 4 states over. Just laying out in the open right around the corner. Is this not the most obvious case ever?

I've heard of some stupid criminals, but this would have to take the cake.

Media stories are already coming out of the possibility that another team picks Hernandez up on waivers. If only Al Davis were still alive, this would be going to a whole new level already.

the patriots would be thrilled with that, being able to take that contract off their books.

Super high risk move for a team though

I don't see any team making a waiver claim until they've heard the charges, which is expected later today. 2pm was noted somewhere.

On principle I have a slight problem with a team releasing a player before he's been convicted, however since personally I believe Hernandez was involved in the victim's death, it doesn't bother me as much.

I think the Pats had info from police related to the charges and evidence against Hernandez and Kraft decided to cut his losses now instead of having the Pats organization's name dragged though a media cesspool along with Hernandez.

If he was dumb enough to shoot someone in the face at point blank range why wouldn't he be dumb enough to kill someone and drop their body off a mile from his house?

He's clearly an absolute moron, that has been well established at this point.

The word is the Patriots told him he'd be cut if he were arrested after the news broke.

It's a good thing he's been sitting around recovering from an injury... so he hasn't been taking reps from people who might actually play.

I still hope Hernandez gets a fair trial, but every time I see the story, it becomes more obvious that he was at the very least an accessory - which carries a lengthy (career ending) sentence.

I don't really think it saves the Pats reputation very much, sure they cut him before he's presumably convicted, but you know it's always going to be "former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez".

Is it better to release the guy when he's arrested, or stick with him and show him support during this difficult time in his life until he's presumably convicted?

If I had a family member that was in this scenario, I would never cut them out of my life until they were actually convicted of something. I would support them throughout the process, and in the end, if found guilty, I would cut them out of my life.

I know the Patriots likely have inside information from the police and whatnot, but to me, it's really showing that they don't respect the legal process.

For the first point, now all of our top 5 receivers from last season won't be there on opening day most likely. Hernandez is 23 and (was) a budding star who just got locked up. He has a ton of talent and is a versatile weapon, he had a bright future in this offense before he ****** it up. Having him and Gronk going forward would be incredibly difficult to defend, look what they have done before they turned 24.

As far as "what if Brady did it", you're just digging for something. I don't know what, but it could be said about anyone else in the league. Hernandez had a history with red flags, Brady doesn't. What's your point?
The point had to do with football politics. Brady is obviously more important to the team. I wondered if he was I the same situation who he get kicked to the curb so easily. Yes Brady has never been a problem. That was never the point. The entire "you're digging for something" doesn't make sense. It's a simple hypothetical question, not a conspiracy cover up. This still has nothing to do with me not knowing the right decision was made like you thought it did.

Oh, and it won't be that big of a loss when the season starts. Brady has had a worse surrounding cast when he wasn't as good as he is now. The Patriots offense will be fine. It's success this upcoming season didn't hinge on whether Hernandez would go to prison.

Given Brady's age, I would assume the Patriots would be more likely to cut him than people think.

If it were Aaron Rodgers... that's a different story.

What a ******* idiot - he had to stick close to the bums he grew up with in CT after he went pro. Good for the Patriots to cut his sorry ass. It seems like he is going to be in a ******** of trouble and going to shipped up river for quite a long time. Still Waiting for the media to classify him as a white latino like they have done with zimmerman.

Oh, and it won't be that big of a loss when the season starts. Brady has had a worse surrounding cast when he wasn't as good as he is now. The Patriots offense will be fine. It's success this upcoming season didn't hinge on whether Hernandez would go to prison.
Hernandez is 23 and has already made the Pro Bowl. He has proven to be a dynamic weapon already and had a very promising future ahead of him. Is he a sure fire HOF player who is one of the best ever to play his position like Brady? No, he's not. If that's what you're arguing then OK.
But Hernandez is not some slouch like you seem to be insinuating by saying-

Hernandez was a piece to this team. We don't pay people, and we just gave him a 5 year $40 million contract. We viewed him as an asset. Sorry, but you're digging for something and I still don't know what it is. The closest thing I can come up with is that Hernandez is not the caliber of player Brady is, and if that's what you are going for then you nailed it dude. But Hernandez was definitely important part of this team moving forward and that was made clear by the investment we made in him.

Of course it would be differant if it were Brady. Thing is Brady appears to have no history of anything and Hernandez has a long list of questionable decisions. Teams have a book on these guys that the public isn't aware of.
